Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If that’s the case who would you pick as the 2 in the team, personally I’d go with done and seyfarth as done had the most impact and seyfarth can cover back row and middle
Tough choice, all 3 have pros and cons. Sione for impact is my personal choice out of the 3, but Seyfarth can do a job in the middle or edge. Twal is my favourite in some ways but the hardest to make an objective case for if you sign Hethrington at 13.

With another new team to be introduced then the raiding of clubs is going to continue. And not a peep from the NRL.
It disenfranchises the fans.
How on earth they think with the additional travelling and the already lack of decent/ quality players available - another two teams is going to be good for the game?
PNG WA added to NTh QLD and NZ the travelling demands week to week - it's nuts from where I stand.

I agree. I don't mind the idea of KPP on sensible money. His skillset adds another dimension to our pack. However, I'd prefer an axe murderer of a 2nd rower. Someone who charges onto the ball at speed, hits gaps, & bashes the opposition in defence. Our pack is a little bit one speed. I like the look of Halasima? at the Warriors but I'd settle for Liam Martin.
I’ve seen nothing like 750K form from KPP. That’s probably why he’s available.

As an old Balmain supporter, if it's all been funded by the Magpies side of the joint venture then why should Balmain have a team. If Balmain wanted a team, they should've run things better and not got themselves in the position they ended up in
I'm not appealing for a Balmain side, I am and for last 25 years am calling for the West Tigers to be exactly that, the West Tigers.

Don't see why there should be anything other than that.

Being an original Balmain Tiger Supporter, from the day of amalgamation, I became a West Tiger Supporter and have been ever since, And I never watched the Balmain reserve grade again after the joint venture happened, and if it ever became solely the Magpies that would be the end of my Supporter days.

And I dare say, quite a lot of West Tiger Supporters would definitely not support the Magpies.

And, here we go again.

If you claim to be so behind the club, at least get the name right. Wests Tigers, with an S. Not West.

Dennis I agree, I have the exact same sentiment, all junior teams should be branded as Wests Tigers. Though for the foreseeable future it won't happen. Imo while Holman Barnes Group operate Ashfield as Wests there will always be a Wests reserve grade team. If Holman Barnes Group one day decided to rebrand Wests Ashfield as Wests Tigers Ashfield, it would probarbly happen then. I would prefer it as Wests Tigers aswell, though have no issue as Wests Magpies, they're fitting the bill atm.

The idea is that, over time, expansion franchises add talent to the comp by building pathways in places the game isn't currently reaching. It's going to take time, of course: the playing base in Perth is tiny and it'll be years before they are finding more players than they need to be signing from elsewhere. But it's also got a lot of potential. The reality is, most of the sports young kids in WA are looking at want a pretty similar body type: tall with elite cardio fitness, basically. If you're a big unit there isn't much for you in AFL, soccer, basketball or cricket - so it's not really a question of winning people over from those sports but finding the elite athletes who aren't suited to them.

All it takes is one sports teacher or family friend or whatever to say "hey, have you ever thought about giving rugby league a go?" That's not to mention the fact there's already a big Pasifika community in Perth.

I suspect the early years will be really tough for Perth - much more so than they have been for the Dolphins, who had a ready made Q Cup pathways system and a big player base to pull from. So yeah, it is going to add pressure on the existing talent pool for a while. But you don't grow the game by standing still or adding more teams in the same areas.

Actually, if anything it should be good for the Tigers. More bidding on free agents means bigger contracts means less value - so, all else being equal, you'd want to be a team that produces its own talent rather than signing it on the open market. We need to be chucking absolutely everything we've got at Macarthur and our other scouting networks. If some of those players piss off to Parra and chew up all their salary cap, so be it - we need to have the next ones coming through on a quarter of the money.

Can't stand the Dogs but the current squad is a masterclass in squad building and cap management.
Because somehow they are allowed to buy players and then move them on without completing contracts and no drama surrounding it.

I would love to see the number of player or % of players not seeing out the full contract whilst Gould being at dogs and Penrith

Halasima is a beast and I think he can play centre as well as second row or do I have him mixed up with someone else?

Dream on about Martin. 🤣
