Jahream Bula #269

After an outstanding debut season, where he should have won rookie of the year, I think Jahream went through the “second season blues” where teams sort of work you out and the long season can take its toll physically and mentally.

The good players find another gear and get fitter, stronger and find other gears. Bula has done this and I think we are just scratching the surface.
I disagree - he was our best player last year until he was injured - and played with that shoulder injury for weeks before going for surgery!

Context is everything!!

Short memories are too normal in this ADHD generation!

Toa & Staines were written off by the "out of sight - out of mind" crowd!!

what r Bula's faults o great 1
Bula is our most naturally gifted player - and the best defensive fullback at WT or either of the original JV foundation clubs since Gary Jack!!

My firm opinion is on the record!!

Feel free to keep receipts

PS - Nathan Cleary is overrrated and can't win without Jarome (in case you missed that one)!

you maybe right about Bula if moses doesn't sell his soul to the highest bidder i don't collect receipts ,its a shit of a game to play PS to much info ,i don't care about your fascination with the Riff , or are you building a case to justify his none selection in the SOO

How good is he?
So much potential.

Literally could be the best.

This came up recently on here, think it was a mutual option Bula's way 800k, club's way 900k whoever takes it up, can someone else confirm.
Have to be careful here, that’s how Raiders lost Fogarty. They chose not to take the option out and offer a new 2 year deal. (Though apparently the option was for significantly more). Apparently Fogarty has his side of the mutual option at the end of the year.

I guess the point is, people are saying can’t talk until Nov 1 26. Well these options are usually taken up prior to round 6 or 7 in the last contracted season meaning this talk could fire up over the off-season.

We’ll see I guess, I was pleased to see Bula burn Sloan in full flight. He is deceptively quick and probably up there with the quicks of the game though he doesn’t look as quick as those others, Sloan, Hammer, Fox.

Probably close to his best game for us. He’s a glider with that long stride. Not lightening off the mark but fast over distance. He is becoming tougher and more resilient as well

Bula still need strong work in his defence. His efforts this season are poor, he’s great on defusing the bomb. But positional play are really poor, short and deep kicks and cover tackling are all poor. Especially against Homes on the weekend he had all the time in the world to get to him, except he slowly moved over allowing Holmes to get to the try line and power over. He should have met him further up field and the try would not have been scored. But there’s several instances where this has happened Reynolds chip chase, etc.
What are u doing hodgo that’s your role isn’t it??

I agree...still a lot of work to do in defence and support play imo...butnhappy hes here and it was noticeble when he was out

Jahream & Fonua have been consistently outstanding on & off field since their respective debuts...

All the mental midgets online who persistently focussed on any flaws in their games as rookies - just don't grasp football talent - or personal character!!
So you think they are so good that they do not have any flaws in their game, that there is something wrong with commenting on facets of their game that require attention to make them even better players.

I'm not talking about character assassinations, I'm talking about honest and justified comments and criticisms.

I'd say that both Bulla and Pole are around the 50 - 50+ game level which I believe has them at the established NRL player level, no longer complete rookies to my way of thinking, I can't see either of them playing any lower than NRL level barring lay offs due to injury or severe form drops.

In other words you expect them to be in the top 13-17 when it is announced every week.

Love both these guys but is there anything wrong in me saying that Pole needs to work on his ball security and both need to work on their defence.

Both players consistently receive raps in the sporting media but then so does Lachlan Galvin which I don't think is the best thing in the case of Lachan because the media fail to be critical or point out the flaws in his game, building him up to a level that he in reality is yet to achieve.

I see nothing wrong in the fans who have a vested interest and passion for their club pointing out deficiencies and areas requiring improvement, particularly when those are glaringly obvious and would benefit both player and team if they were remedied.
