Jahream Bula #269

People critical of Bula? He is getting more and more dominant in attack, catches most everything from the back and I thought he handled the line breaks pretty well today. Not sure what is causing this criticism of him. Was a terrific contest between Kennedy and Bula today, I'd say both were the biggest threats in the game.

there's always a few that will rain on any parade ,be it xmas or a win

Bula is great, but he does need to work on his last line of defence.

When there has a line break he hasn't been good enough in slowing the attacker down and too many line breaks lead to tries.

This was a strength of his previously so not sure if it's a confidence thing.

After shoulder surgery many players are bit off in D. May not feel it's 100%

Yes T especially when they are sidestepped and to make the tackle they have to reach out and risk tearing the surgical repair if stretched.

That would mess with your head and cause apprehension until they have confidence in it.

Season 2025 so far

Tedesco - 78% tackle efficiency
Edwards - 80% tackle efficiency
Walsh - 77% tackle efficiency
Ponga - 68% tackle efficiency
Bula- 88% tackle efficiency
The eyeball told the same story . I dunno what people look at sometimes when they watch footy . Or they get hyper fixated on one stuff up in a match , they use it as data/ bias for the whole game .
For me most players will stuff up once , twice , 3 times a game . Whether they get caught out in defence , miss a tackle , miss an assigned run , drop the ball , forward pass etc. but it’s about understanding it’s an imperfect game , and not letting those moments be game defining .
If you play a reserved style of play , you’re basically playing to lose IMHO . Look at the knights right now . You’re saying we can stick with you long enough , that you will stuff up enough that we we will beat you .
Whereas if you allow your guys to play footy , you’re saying we will beat you ! The other teams don’t really factor into the equation . Sure you have rules in your gameplan on when and how you attack , you know off fast play the balls , when you have ascendancy , whatever rules the team would adopt as thier ethos , but generally your playing to win . I dunno , I don’t think the Des Hasler grind you into the ground style works anymore . Even the dogs , play a far more expansive style of footy , as Vlandys ball means points are going to be scored . And if you can’t score 3 tries without the other team screwing up , then you’re not winning much .
Just my point of view on all this .

'Love what I'm doing': Bula relishing Tigers rise

Wests Tigers fullback Jahream Bula has declared his desire to lead the side's charge up the NRL ladder, dousing speculation he might be heading for an early exit.

While he's contracted through to the end of 2027, Bula has been the subject of contract speculation in the past fortnight after emerging half Lachlan Galvin revealed his plan to depart after next season.

The duo are managed by the same agent and there were fears Bula could also be squeezed out amid the messy exit.

Bula, however has finally started to taste success at the Tigers after a tough initiation to the NRL and declared he has no intention of leaving a team on an upward trajectory.

"I'm enjoying it here," he said. "We're changing things around and I can see where this team's heading.

"Of course [I want to stay]. I don't want to go into detail about that stuff but I love what I'm doing here and I'm just focused on this week and the season."

So lean have the last few years been at the Tigers, Bula has already matched his win total from the last two seasons.

The 23-year-old won four games in each of his first two seasons in the NRL as the Tigers collected the wooden spoon on both occasions.

The Tigers have reached four wins after eight games and have the chance to climb into the top eight with a win over the Dragons during Magic Round on Saturday night.

A victory would take Benji Marshall's team to 5-4, the first time they've held a winning record after nine rounds since 2019.

Bula said the arrival of halfback Jarome Luai and prop Terrell May have provided a major boost to a talented crop of emerging players.

"It would definitely be a big confidence booster for the team, seeing that we haven't done that for a while," Bula said when asked about the prospect of holding a winning record after nine rounds

"In the past few years when things got tough, the boys would drop their heads but this year has been totally different. Jarome brings a lot of confidence to the team and he's good at making the whole team better."

So he can speak to rival clubs November 1 2026..

Plenty of time for us to secure him longer

It's important we do with PNG and WA entering the comp too. It's going to cause issues for all clubs and we won't be immune to it

Doesn’t Bula have an option for 27?
Till the end of 2027 according to the Nine.com article below;

'Happy at this club': Wests Tigers young gun denies exit rumours despite links to controversial agent

Jahream Bula has brushed off suggestions he could be the next player to want out at the Wests Tigers, with the fullback reiterating he is "happy" at the club.

In the wake of the Lachlan Galvin saga, which will see the five-eighth leave at the end of next season, Bula's name was quickly thrown into the rumour mill.

The 23-year-old is also managed by the controversial Isaac Moses, who has been at loggerheads with the Tigers for many years, leading to speculation he could suggest a future for the Fijian international at another NRL team.
But speaking to media on Thursday, the fleet-footed Bula was quick to squash it.
"I'm happy at this club - I don't really want to talk about that stuff," he said.

"I don't really listen to the outside noise. They love you when you're up, they bash you when you're down - but I don't really listen to that stuff.

"I listen to the people that have earned the right to say their opinion to me."

Bula has become one of Benji Marshall's most potent attacking weapons and is already signed with the Concord-based outfit until the end of 2027.
The recent issues involving Galvin - which included senior players being offside with the wantaway youngster before his successful return in round nine at Leichhardt Oval - haven't appeared to weigh on Bula.
"I love the kid - we've got a good relationship and it's one I'll cherish forever," he said.

"He's a very resilient kid and it showed when he played that game how resilient he is, especially after that tough week."

The side will take on the Dragons on Saturday night at Magic Round.

This came up recently on here, think it was a mutual option Bula's way 800k, club's way 900k whoever takes it up, can someone else confirm.

Lot of money, think he’s worth 750k on the market atm. Someone desperate would pay 8-900k but I don’t think there is really a shortage of good fullbacks out there
