OFFICIAL Jarome Luai - #295

If he cannot stop himself or his family from posting controversial comments on social media, he is not worth 1.2 million per season to us.
Agreed, his only been worth half at the most of his salary, I hope he turns it around but if he only lasts 2 years at the tigers I wouldn't be mad about it.

Couldnt disagree more with alot of comments. You can see in the players that we have more about us and every person in the know says its him and Turva. The culture he brings togetherness is worth every penny.
The bigger concern is that people think he can take this roster to the top 8. We have a lot more turning over to do until then. Id say we have 10 -12 good first graders which to me says we are playing well above our weight.

I read somewhere today when Richo took over at Souths it took him 4 years from spoon to top 8 and another 3 to make top 4

And Newcastle after 3 spoons another 3 years to make the 8

We are going good

So Newcastle have a better roster than us. Dolphins. And every other team from 6 down. This is bullshit.. We got the roster brother- we just don't got the Mojo Hodgo.

Did you watch his exit video from Penrith with Jake Duke

Luai doesn't have a great relationship with his dad he was not around when he was a kid and sounds like he only turned up when Luai became a NRL super star
Don't read to much into his dad's comments

Sounded like his dad was a bit of a dropkick

Luai is worth every penny were paying him, actually imo he's worth more. He didn't come to the Tigers to play the same role he did at Penrith, he came to be the man. To be the man at the Tigers up till now required him take a back-seat to an upstart 19 year old wannabe touch football player. That's what he is doing at the moment. Luai has taken a back seat because that's what the team need from him atm. He is directing things off the ball and has brought with him a new intensity at training and new culture within the group. Yesterday's debacle was purely on Benji and the coaching staff. The players didn't look prepared and looked disconnected. The other issue is Benji asking Luai to play second fiddle to a 19 year old. It is diabolical and defies common sense. We have an origin winning half with 4 consecutive premierships to his name being asked to allow a 19 year old upstart to overcall him. Hopefully it ends after yesterday's disaster. Make no mistake though the only reason we are 5 - 5 to start the year is because of the 1.2 million dollar player and the things he's brought to the club in the background that none of us see.

I'm sad to hear this for jaromes sake
But as a tiger's fan it fills me with a bit more confidence

I dont think he has come within cooee of earning his paycheck yet.

If that was truly the plan, then Im super pissed off with management.

He has brought a new culture....fake it till you make it. They carry on like they are world beaters. Storm smacked some humility into them. That loss was not just on the training staff. Their was zero leadership on field. The players were way too relaxed before the game. The players were awful.

I dont think this is true. Galvin is far more active and demands the ball more. Luai needed to say 'you get it when I agree you should'. From what Ive seen this year, he has only recently started saying this.

This is Luai's fault, not Benji's

I think he has had something to do with it, the defence on his side has improved. That said he has been akin to a shit sandwhich in attack and leadership. May and Turuva have had a far bigger influence on how weve gone this year. Interestingly, both had off games on the weekend and we get flogged.

Tucker without quoting your whole post... I agree this game was lost before we ran onto the field... There was something different... Too relaxed, or had bought into their own abilities thinking they could just rock up and give the storm a run for their money

I'm choosing to look at the match as the belting we needed....

This week will be the biggest indicator of all.

I highly doubt he wouldve agreed to come here if he knew the Galvin shitfight was waiting.

Only thing i can see is benjis telling luai to sit back and let galvin slowly crucify himself...theres no way benji thinks galvin has more than Luai

Its really baffling Luai took control v Drags magic round...then in melb its back to the Galvin show

I think from all the talk that Luai has never refuted that all the Galvin overcalling Luai and Luai being used to lead the guys around and just play as a link to Galvin is all from Benji, to give Galvin the chance to not worry about organising the team and just play his game. Luai is doing it for the betterment of the team to his own detriment at times. That's on Benji. If it's Benjis plan it's his fault. If it's not Benjis plan and Luai has taken a back seat to Galvin to just play touch footy then its still on Benji for not pulling it up and demanding changes to the style. I'm exactly on the same page as you, I think it's diabolical we have a 19 year old allowed to just play what he sees, while we seem to be forcing Luai into a structure to allow for it. We're in agreement that Galvin in no way should have been given all last year and this year in first grade he should have been brought in and out slowly he has way to many deficiencies in his game. But if Luai wasn't being asked by Benji to let Galvin just do what he wants he should have fixed it. Luai I'd a major piece of the puzzle, granted not the only one. Iv no doubt last weekend was an anomaly, over all our starting team is borderline top 8, we're in trouble because he have no quality depth, also some of Benjis selections could improve. But over all I don't think we're as far off as last weekends game. This weekend against Souths will show us where we really are as a squad. How we bounce back will determine Benjis future imo. I suspect Richo will be looking real close to this week's prep and game.
