Balmain Leagues Club building site approved

Hypothetically, when Balmain Leagues Club is up and running and profitable. If they repay their debt to Wests Ashfield, I wonder if the governance of Wests Tigers will be returned to the way it was originally.

Probably not , I can’t see that happening as Balmain don’t own the site and who would own the actual leagues club there
 
For some reason I have a memory of all the Balmain ownership/interest in the site was transferred to wests Ashfield as part of the continuing partnership (debt wiped)

Y'all going to have a nice shiny new club in the heart of Balmain, to which Balmain won't be putting $1 to... because you have nothing.
Then when you are sitting in the brand-new club having a beer with your old Balmain mates, will you still be giving OLD MAGPIES a hard time [bullying by another name], which YOU SAID in writing on here [and I have produced the evidence to prove that] even though you denied that many times.

How can you call this an amalgamation when Balmain Leagues Club no longer exists?

I hope they do something constructive with it other than turn it into yet another pokies den.

For any youngsters viewing:

Australians spending $10-12b a year on pokies alone.

They are designed to only give some of this back, but speaking to my gambling expert friends, this can happen tonight or anytime, even years from today.

So if you are going to play, gamble with a friend, limit your total and expect to lose it all.

HBG will own the club - whether they brand it as WT Leagues club is an unknown. WT governance is a seperate issue altogether given there is now a standalone board.

Wests Magpies would not have survived it we didn’t merge with Balmain Tigers , the area would have been gobbled up by the Bulldogs

Yep...

and our aussie machines pay out less as a percentage. instead of sheering the sheep, we basically slaughter them and send them to the butchers.


The people I feel really sorry for are the spouses and kids of the Gamblers. Yes the Gamblers ruin themselves, but it's those families who move from house -> Toyota Tarago that I really feel for.
