So the Punk wants to be tutored by a better Coach….i wonder when the Dogs hired This Vella guy that Galvin seems to be infatuated by?…and what is his role?…never seen him in the coaches box with JT…If Gus hired this Vella guy this year we all know why…
A failed reserve grader , who retired early through injury . Worked his way into the wests fields coaching job .
Here’s the thing there’s no way on earth he would have learnt more than someone like Benji , simply by the fact that he would have had to study nrl doctrine to get even a glimpse at some of these nrl strategies . If Benji was paying attention even the slightest bit , his knowledge base would be far greater than a guy who’s only right now, like this year, getting access to truely elite coaching .
I’m not talking about ability , I’m merely talking about information . And access to it . You don’t know what you don’t know ! You can pick the brains of people who have been in those situations , yes sure , but you yourself have never been there .
So how can a guy who’s simply never been there, tell anyone what is or isn’t good coaching . And why would anyone listen to him like he’s the oracle of information .
The whole thing is just “wests tigers are a bunch of dum dums and nuffies” group think .
It’s infested nsw as well . the club did it to itself . There’s no doubt about it , but if prospects are listening to failed reserve graders rather than nrl system coaches … then that’s just beyond stupid . Even someone like Benji , who you can say was chosen too soon or whatever, he’s still winning nrl games . Not as many as we would all like . But if you have NFI you’re not winning anything . The standards at that level being so high , that the difference between an off day vs a team on a good day , is often 50 points . We’ve had our fair share of those under Benji , sure , but we’ve also towelled a few up ourselves .
There’s no way that anyone who’s coaching below nrl standard , who’s never been exposed to the training and coaching strategies even as a player could ever just jump straight into that level . If you’re an ex player , especially in a key position like a spine player , I think you’re probably going to ok . Considering most of those guys towards the end of their career , start taking on leadership / mentoring roles , and often influence game plans and strategies , simply because been there done that .
