Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I love Benji, and I want him to succeed. But I just can’t help but think he’s got himself in too deep sometimes.
I dont love Benji, id like him to succeed but i doubt he will.

As for @Tucker death riding the club mentioned earlier, thats not true.

As i understand it, he simply has high standards.

And in the broad, i agree with his approach to keep pushing and agitating for excellence.

So when Benji was holding out the Storm as the benchmark for 20 years, id imagine Tucker thinks we shouldve been.

So we probably need as many death riders as we do happy clappers.

Thats how we get change. Thats how we got rid of Lee and Co.

And we need to build a string of building and competive years.

If we are serious about our place in the game, we should be the finals or threatening to be there in successive years.

Using the power of the storm over the last 20 years as an excuse to the flogging was laughable.

What the storm side did in 2005-2025 has zero impact on the 2025 tigers!

By that you don’t mean Manu do you ?
Or is there someone else coz I don’t think Manu would even consider us.
Its third hand info but I have heard there is a broncos player on their way to the tigers (my friend is close to a former broncos great)

Another forum member also posted that he had heard something at an origin even from someone who was drunk but friends with a player manager.

Could be speculation but if it's from two sources then there's obviously some merit to it.

weren’t we singing one of their forwards until madge got the coaching job and decided to keep them?

I like Tallyn I really do.

But from this article, Tallyn and his manager are dictating to the tigers saying we can't resign api or Tallyn will leave.

THey haven't given a middle ground option.

API gets a new contract = Tallyn leaves .

I am sorry but I am over the club being bent over....

If he wants to go he can go then.

I take the statements literally, as they quoted word for word.
I wouldn’t take anything agents say in the media literally, ever. It’s all negotiation tactics.

Nothing Tallyn has said or done has indicated in the slightest that he wants to leave or ‘bend the club over’.

There’s no point getting upset at a player about something that they havnt done or may not even happen.

It makes you wonder why he is #22 this week and how Tristan Hope has just overtaken him out of no where. TDS was terrible vs Storm but I think it would be widely agreed he was offering a lot in his 25 minute role off the bench prior to that. Definitely not deserving of being punted after 1 poor one.

Might be seeing things but looks like the opposition pick him out when he comes on and he’s not physical enough to control the ruck in D. Makes sense to me to give him some more time in KOE.

Maybe …. But for many of us the best time to learn to swim is when you feel like you’re going to sink .
Is this Benji the finished product ? God no ! We just need him to be good enough to get these guys moving forward so he can learn , so in 3-5 years time we are benefitting from these hard times .
I look at the Raiders and I think they’ve really ridden the Ricky ride the whole way through , down the bottom - up the top etc. before him they had coaches , but it was burdened by mediocrity . They found thier guy “who just gets the raiders” , and have been stable since .
I don’t care if we win every year , because I really don’t think we are ever going to be that club . But 3-5 year window … regress to 9-12 for a year or 2 then surge again . That team … we definitely can be that team .
But we need a stabilising force someone who when you think tigers you think ….. that person . I’m hoping it’s Benji . Not because it’s Benji Marshall but because I think he really is starting to come out the other side . This week will be a good indicator into whether Galvin really was that fox in the hen house , or whether the guys have hit the mid season wall , and a return to the toothless tigers.
Coaching an NRL team these days is basically managing the squad and creating a team harmony wherein the squad is all focused on working together and playing according to the team plan formulated by the coach .. assistant coaches actually do offence and defence , Benji has got them all playing for him .. a la Bennett, Bellamy , Cleary et al .. he needs the assistants to step up .. and the cattle to do it . Then we are home and hosed

Especially when it was just an article that his agent was quoted in , doing what agents do , his agent even qualified it by saying Talyn loves the club and wants to stay .

Well the ideal scenario is that Api amd TDS take a deep breath, look at it from our position and see if everyone can reach a workable solution.

It might not be what eithrf API and TDS wants, but a compromise and one that holds them dear to us into the future.
