Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I dunno about that in regards to Haas … he will be in too much demand by teams that are already great …I also think Richo is wrong about that comment although I have heard similar from Bennett to…
Perth will be offering Haas 1.5 million per season and I think he will take it.
As for us Royce Hunt is becoming a real problem. I was keen for us to sign him based on his efforts for the Sharks last season, but he looks like his fitness has gone backwards and he is now a massive liability when we are defending.
Sam Fainu looks like he needs to move into the middle ASAP, therefore we should be looking for 2 edge back rowers, therefore are 2 available that spring to mind.
I think Sam Fainu could possibly work as our starting 13

I actually think most people posting on here are right. It's just that both versions of extreme opinions are correct.

Examples-

Seyfarth is a reliable player that does the best with his ability & has the coaches confidence, and really isn't to blame for losses.
He ALSO doesn't win contact in defence, isn't athletic & is a replaceable piece of the puzzle.
So he's probably somewhere in the middle. A squad guy. Top 30. Would be great to be called in if we have injury issues.

Twal is a hard worker that puts in every game.
He also has minimal impact on a physicality point.

Doueihi is slower moving than most elite centres.
His defence has improved dramatically & he seems to find himself in position to assist with a number of good attacking opportunities.

These are all players that fir into a squad. But they are all replaceable. Add Sukkar, Mason, Staines, Tupou, Skelton, Hunt, Bird etc, etc.

I think what we have here is the following:

We are not a strong club in contact in defence, regardless of the player named.
We do not have suitable depth in case of injury, suspension or form.
We lack 2 or 3 elite athletes in the squad.

We are, however, about 30-50% better squad-wise than last season.

We need our KOE side to house 4-5 NRL ready players. Along with 4-5 NRL future ready players. THAT, is depth. WE do not have that.

Our top squad needs 2-3 athletes that teams need to account for. Just guys that create something through power, pace, height etc. Whatever they add- it is an elite trait. If they have 2-3 traits- amazing. We have probably 1 right now, Bula.

We need forwards that WIN the contact in attack or defence. We have some guys that make all their tackles. We have some guys that are effective running the ball. I don't think we have anyone that dominates in contact. Even Terrell May is a bit of a cream puff in defence, despite making his tackles. Sam Fainu is probably the most dominant defender, when he hits. Pole & Sione Fainu are probably our most dominant attacking forwards. I'm not talking about numbers. This is winning the contact & driving the opposition back.

I still think we are closer to being good than people realise. I don't think players like Kobe Hetherington & Bullemore are what we lack.

KPP offers elite size. Fifita offers power & speed. Cobbo has height, speed. Jack Hetherington wins defensive contact. Morrin wins attacking contact.

We are missing some pieces. The KOE squad needs to be actual depth.

Unpopular opinion, but I think Sam Fainu could be a better prop than Terrell May. He offers the killer instinct our middle lacks.

100% agree, great post.

Facts are that neither Seyfarth or Sukkar lost us the game last night, it was the dumb penalties resulting in sendoffs that impacted the game. Playing 20 minutes with 12 men would kill any team.
So, how about we stop blaming the wrong players and point the finger where blame is warranted!
Everyone could see that Lui was cutting it fine and was destined for a sin bin, the same with Duehli. Why risk it and seriously run the risk of loosing the game, I just don't get it with these dumb plays.
The same could be said with the time wasting during a goal line drop out, Lui was penalized several times for exceeding the time allowed, seriously, these are professional players and should know better then that. Anyway, that's my rant for the day, after loosing a game that we should have won.

I give Perth a slight chance .. why does he want to go there ? I think it will be a dog fight between Dogs and Roosters for Haas … they won’t be outbid for a player of his quality …even if that means more third party money

Was following along with most of this and then I saw the Jack Hetherington mention. Then I checked the poster to see if it was anyone other than @The Chad 😂

We have now played 5 games where Sukkar and Seyfarth have been in the 17.
We are 0 - 5 in those games.
It just isn't possible to win an NRL game carrying 2 park standard footballers who offer nothing to the team.
Some of the efforts or lack of last night from both these passengers were so lacking of any athleticism and skill that it was hard to believe I was watching NRL.
I have said this previously but we will not win a game carrying the 2 of them.
It's a shame that the blokes who can play got us so close to a win. It must be heartbreaking for them.
Time to urgently try to get ANY NRL standard backrower before June 30.
I thought Sukkar showed a little bit last night

Staines deserves to be re-signed if he keeps playing like this. Really handy backup winger, he's somehow turned into a really reliable yardage player too
I only watched the 1st half, but was gobsmacked when the "Ferrari" could not catch Drinkwater?
There was another occasion as well when he was outpaced?
Must have had a big 2nd half?

Yep I'm with you on this. When we did get rid of him all the talk was about it being the club's and player's fault that he couldn't turn us around when it was clear, particularly from Tales from Tiger Town, that Madge is actually a pretty clueless coach. He has one way of communicating and coaching and if it doesn't work there seems to be no plan B. Like you I don't hate him, I just think he is a bit of myth and was happy he went to the Broncos, because yes I hate them.
We've certainly kicked on since he left, Shanks.

It’s hard though , you have kids in your junior system like Phoenix Godinet , who you’ve had eyes on since they were 13/14 , and then they sign with your worst enemy when they’re 16/17 . You now have to deal with the grub .
Same as Bula really . He signed with Moses after we negotiated his contract.
He offers the players heaps external of on the field . It’s why they all go to Cove.
The funny thing is we just negotiated a new contract with him for Sukkar .
My guess is? He only does this shit , if the player and thier family gives him the green light .
The Galvin family are as much to blame , if not more so . Same as the bulldogs .
I honestly don’t think we miss much with him . I honestly don’t think he’s anything near the level of 1mil . I don’t see what everyone else is seeing .
I was thinking when Mason went over last night . When had the superstar torched a defence with him alone ? The only time I can remember is the eels game last year . Other than that , he’s been out through a few half holes and got an offload … cool that’s edge forward stuff .
When has he actually split the defence ? Since that 1 time ?
Don’t think Sukkar was a renegotiation, believe the club took up it’s option

I only watched the 1st half, but was gobsmacked when the "Ferrari" could not catch Drinkwater?

On a side issue…. I said in the game thread that perhaps Bula should have lined up opposite Drinkwater at that scrum instead of the much slower Luai … I know it’s easy to say in hindsight , but that try on the stroke of halftime was critical …it shows that some attention to detail is lacking with the preparation and tip sheets ..

Also ..it’s not the first time they have had a long range try scored against them in the last minute before half time …just unlucky ?

Just a name.

The style of player is the important part.

I said all off season we need that enforcer type. We still lack the guy that other teams look out for. We are....weak.

Nobody thinks the Knights pack is easy to run over. Even if their team is rubbish.

We are heading for spoon number 4

It's so obvious

I remember someone saying we play Titans and cowboys twice we won't win the spoon

Truth is we lose to everybody

A 4th spoon is almost guaranteed unless knights lose every remaining game

All good comments
‘But’ what other team would have a player sin binned for what Douhie did, minimal interference.
How many times does storm , roosters, etc give multiple 6 again on the line with no sin bin
Tigers should not put themselves in the position to be binned, but it happens most games without the same outcome
The question needs to be asked plus how many times is the ref over ruled by the bunker on a 50/50 call
Tigers were poor ‘but’
