Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Code Sports reporting that Reynolds has rejected Tigers, wants to stay in Brisbane.

Ben Gardiner also to be Meninga's successor at the Bears.
I can handle that kind of rejection but Ben Gardiner, just another good one that we let slip through our fingers.

Just can't imagine Meninga as a full time day to day coach of an NRL team, does he really know what he is getting into?

I think he needs Gardiner or someone like him right away.

Wonder if his full time coaching career lasts longer than his political career.

SHOOSH

Which NRL club recently parted company with a senior employee over accusations he was leaking sensitive information to a player agent and a prominent member of the media.

---

Hmmmm a member of Benji's football staff was recently let go and was last week spotted in the Galvin entourage at the Bulldogs game. Hmmmm player agent Moses. Could explain some of the dossier items! Makes you wonder.
Yea it was my first thought when i saw it.

There’s no actual story there ? What’s the point of that article ? He says there’s things going on , but to what extent and then he brings up Galvin and Sullivan ? WTF …. The bulldogs once thought thier halves were Burton and Sexton … things change … this is Gus Gould bullshit spin IMO . To try and shift the narrative away from how much of dickhead his 19 year old star is . When everyone knows he is a dickhead .
Is it about Richo ? Is that the target saying Richo is the one who put the clauses in ? I have zero idea what’s the point of repeating something that everyone knew a year ago …
Needed to smear us somehow this week. Had to go to the outflow pipe of the sewage treatment plant to resurrect that rubbish. Nothing to smell here.

Luai’s Tigers deal back in the spotlight

On the eve of Jarome Luai’s biggest game of the year, a fresh squabble has broken out behind the scenes about the nature of his five-year contract with the Wests Tigers.

Luai’s deal has been in the news throughout the Galvin saga because it contains exit clauses that allow him to leave the club at the end of next season. The origin of those clauses has been raised in recent days in the News Corp press.

It has been suggested that during early negotiations with Luai, the previous Tigers management was open to his contract containing clauses that would allow him to leave after every year of the deal.

Tigers chief executive Shane Richardsoninferred that he had managed to get the Luai deal over the line in the face of poor negotiations led by former CEO Justin Pascoe. However, some digging reveals Pascoe actually refused to consider any clauses in the Luai deal when he was negotiating it.

There was a request for clauses at a meeting between Pascoe, Luai, his management and Benji Marshall at the coach’s home. But it was never an option Pascoe was willing to entertain.

Pascoe was eventually removed from his Tigers position and Richardson got past the Bulldogs to secure Luai for an amount significantly higher than the one the old administration had been prepared to offer.

Luai, who only arrived at Concord at the end of last year, has not indicated any desire to exit his contract early, but he has the option.

What is curious is the club’s interest in veteran Broncos halfback Adam Reynolds, which we first revealed some weeks ago. Part of the appeal in joining the Tigers for Luai was the opportunity to play No.7 and be the main man. It’s something he’s more than capable of doing.

It’s all a long way from Marshall’s initial plans for the Tigers playmakers, which revolved around a halves combination of Galvin and Bud Sullivan, with Latu Fainu the wildcard.

A lot has happened since then, obviously. Not least the latest manoeuvring to present a favourable version of events to the public.
Talk about an article saying nothing. Nothing in the article remotely suggests what’s it reflected in the title.

reeks of they’re on a bye week so i need to find old information to bring up again to write about the tigers
It’s back in the spotlight cos the writer put it back in the spotlight. However, he presents no information about there being any drama going on, just how the clause came about, which we already knew anyway.

Does motivated include subsidising his contract for the remainder of his contract?

And the other issue which comes to mind, what forward can the Dolphins pick up for mid-year? Is it someone WTs should be looking at?

Possibly… but even with Tigers paying minimum ,..do we want to be stuck with him until end of 27?

The Dolphins need the room in their Top 30 to be able to sign someone ..this is their problem ..even if no one is immediately available

Who wrote this article?

Why in his right mind would Marshall debut this kid who has only played a handful of SG ball games of rugby league this year, and is still studying his HSC? He’s signed until 2028! I hope it’s the journo talking it up rather than the club making the same mistakes of recent years.

Once his school rugby (scholarship) commitments are done, he should play out the remainder of the year in Flegg!
Christian Nicolussi wrote it, one jurno Richo actually likes lol

kids a gun and genetically a freak so if he did debut he’d hold his own but I’d like to think they’d take it slow

Dragons , knights , titans , and manly are worse than us . Chuck in souths (Galvin sucks) , and honestly I think we are better than the cowboys , dolphins and eels .
The only teams I think we might not have it against are really Melbourne , maybe Canberra and the dogs . I think we are on par with the warriors and roosters .
We just need to start winning . We can beat the raiders , they’re due . And then we have dads army the sea eagles after than and the roosters . We will win a few im sure of it .
I love your positivity.
Honestly we need someone talking up our club.

That said, were not on par with the Roosters or Warriors or Sharks for that matter.
But your right, all the games we are facing are winable. Raiders are facing disruption with Fogarty leaving and we can make the most of that.

I say were still the underdogs, lets show them what underdogs can do!

The Bulldogs have signed highly-rated 19-year-old Aaymon Fitzgibbon — son of Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon — on a 3-year deal. The big-bodied five-eighth turned down a Dragons offer to join the Dogs, with his camp believing Canterbury was the better fit. The Bulldogs are building a powerhouse youth system, adding another elite talent, former Aussie Schoolboys rep Finau Latu, just three weeks ago. They’ve now secured Aaymon Fitzgibbon, Jack Ennis, David Bryenton & Latu — all poached from rival systems (DT)

why aren’t we doing this ? it’s the same recruitment plan as the raiders , find the best young and get them in the system asap . is it kids just don’t want to come here ?

Possibly… but even with Tigers paying minimum ,..do we want to be stuck with him until end of 27?

The Dolphins need the room in their Top 30 to be able to sign someone ..this is their problem ..even if no one is immediately available
On minimum, sure, as aren't we already paying Feledy, Tumeth and Saukuru at least that to play reserves or lower?

I don’t know what he offers that’s an upgrade on Twal. Alex doesn’t really pass the ball but neither does Kobe.

He’s probably an upgrade on Bird at lock but not by much.
So different players IMHO.

Bird is a 5/8 who is transitioning to the forward pack. He started as a Center? Often playing 5/8 and is the kind of player we can work with at Lock off the bench. Guy needs to improve.

Kobe, not a lock and definately not the lock we need. Workhorse, maybe... but not a spine player.

The good thing if the Donkeys have promissed to keep Reynolds. We can go hunting their other players. They will likely loose Haas and will likely want to replace him with someone of equal standing. They will keep Corrigan.

Cobbo, Deine Mariner or Staggs would all go well here. Heck Staggs at lock has potential.
Fletcher Baker, Paix makes sense. ...

We could hire Billy back just to get his dad as an (Assistant) coach. Heck while were upgrading...

Says something about what Gould, Ciraldo, and Bulldogs are building, when a rival NRL Head coach is confident his son can flourish there.

Good on Fitzy too removing himself from his son's career development. Claims of nepotism at the sharks won't exist, even though this kid has the goods. And it's hard enough worrying about your NRL squad to also have your son's development on mind as well.

Remember, Nathan Cleary's crucial development years were at the time Ivan was out of Penrith too. Aaymon and his old man can reunite in future.
absolutely, jet cleary is at the warriors atm. smart when you think about it , being out of the spotlight of his dad and brother and away in nz to fly under the radar and develop over there

just disappointing that we aren’t as rated for development and pathways hopefully something richo is working on
