Tallyn Da Silva #270

I don't really understand this though? Unless it is a loan deal for 3 years.

The whole reason TDS wants out is because he sees himself at a starting hooker come 2027 and Api is blocking his pathway. Unless the club have sold him the vision I think a loan deal does not make any sense.
the loan deal allows him solid first grade minutes at another club for a year or two. Great for his development great for his potential to show he should start in 27. It makes a tonne of sense for both the club and the player. The real question is why would another club do this. Literally develop a player for another team like we did for Melbourne.

Maybe Melbourne owes a favour

They owe us after taking Olam off their hands.
Unfortunately the Storm are still giggling after we helped them out taking Olam off their books then convincing Blore, Steff and having a red-hot crack at Pole to jump ship.

They only consider us a club ripe for cherry picking players to bolster their squad and with our large junior base they are gazing in wide wonder at who they can poach in the future.

We can only hope when Bellyache finally retires from coaching those A holes come falling back to earth with a thud.

I guess there are too many unknowns but logically Tallan should back himself to take the starting 9 off Api come 2027.

That doesn't seem to be what is playing out here though. Tallan's management have said if Api re-signs Tallan will go, imlpying that Tallan a) doesn't think he can get the starting jersey off Api b) thinks he deserves it out of hand it 2027.

The loan deal doesn't make sense because Tallan's management indicated he will sign elsewhere if Api is resigned.

Could be a 2 year loan . The issue is his contract is due for renewal end of 2026 , so how you get a team to buy into that is weird . So he resigns with the tigers say for 2027-2030, but spends at least 2026 and 2027 with whichever club .
I can see it working if a club has a young kid on the way up who they need to give a few years / they don’t value anything in the market , and need the 2 years to reset / buy some time .
Someone like the cowboys wouldn’t be a bad shout. They are up shit creek next year , and Townsville like Darwin and anywhere tropical is attractive on the long term to a particular type of person.
A lot of people only stay a few years .

Like I said if you don’t value Reed Mahoney , where are you getting a decent dummy half from . The Braileys ? I’d say at least one if not both of Mahoney and Brailey are going to the bears. . Most clubs are tying up thier best players into 2028 to screw up the expansion teams so it’s slim pickings this offseason and next .
Even Manly are looking Simpkin and Chan Kam Tong as thier dummy halves . Yuck !🤮

I'm still struggling to get my head around it though. Yes in theory it makes sense for Tallan and for us, but the information we have is that Tallan is looking elsewhere because we are going to re-sign Api (who's contract expires at the end of 2026). Him going to a club to develop for 18 months doesn't solve the problem of why he wants to leave in the first place - us re-signing Api to be our no.1 hooker.

If the information we have is incorrect and that Tallan simple wants to start now and would be happy to share with Api come 2027 then it makes sense. But I don't think that's what is happening?

Rumour of the week: Rising Wests Tigers star Tallyn Da Silva to follow his great mate Lachlan Galvin to the Bulldogs as a starting hooker from next season with Bailey Hayward the regular 14. Stand by for the denials.

I don't think the tigers are willing to release him before the end of 2026.. he might sign with the dogs but I think he'll be seeing out his contract here first

I dunno . I guess it depends on the 2 narratives out there about his relationship with the club .
1. TDS hates the club because Galvin — it makes zero sense this loan stuff , and all the sense in the world that he ends up next week at the dogs .
2. He loves the club , but wants to get his nrl career going , so his manger and him are doing whatever they need to do to get the party started . But ultimately his 1st love is the tigers and this is where his long term future is.
I dunno what’s true tbh . I’m just pointing out that if you’re the cowboys or even manly or even the bears tbh , you don’t have a dummy half right now that you think can play 1st grade to a reasonable standard . So if you simply need a player right now to fill the 9 for your club right now as in 2025-2026 , which means you’ve now bought yourself 18 months to sort this out , is that not a good enough reason to want a prodigious kid to wear the 9 for you ?
I mean it’s how a lot of European football clubs see it in soccer/football. Get the talent in now to win footy matches , whilst you sort out your future long term in the background .

Signing des would be a disaster and push back our rebuild another 5 years.

He is well passed his used by date.
His win % is almost double that of Benjis.

I dont think he would institute a total rebuild but make tweaks. Hopefully leave Foran up there!

The only thing I will say with this is his manager Tartak has a really strong relationship with the club . This would do serious damage to his relationship with the club moving forward .
I mean he’s from out your way , do you have any whispers out there ? I always thought him and his dad bled black white and orange ? Seems strange to me .

WHen interpreting data , sample size is pretty important mate.
I’m sticking to facts.

At his current rate of progress, Benji won’t hit 54% for another 4 or 5 years.

Des was doing a lot better than Benji is at the same stage of his career.
