Benji 2025 and Beyond

This will be the mother of meltdowns if he walks out the door Nov 1… we ain’t seen nothing yet
Yep. And I predicted last night that his contract will be the next big media circus if we don’t start winning games. If we’re heading for the spoon, what do you think will dominate 360 every night?

If Benji is to fall, is it less the onfield results than maybe a seeming stubborn inability to change the coaching support staff and do basics such as game plans, team organisation etc. Being ridiculed as a team as headless chooks not knowing what to do is not a good look.

I suppose they want the year to play out. I don’t agree with it, but just trying to figure out their logic. I suppose there’s still time for Benji to turn the ship around.

They will just try to buy time if it comes to that ..they’ll hope for the best … things have generally improved on the field although the results don’t show it …Luai seems to get the players to play better and they turned to crap last week without him

It surprises me why he seems to be such a supporter of Benji … he knows what an elite coached team looks like

The cynic in me would say Luai does know, but Benji is his mate. I suppose as an athlete, you have to have a ridiculous amount of belief in not only yourself, but those around you. And that’s a good thing. But it doesn’t mean it’s going to breed success. Like every year, there are half a dozen teams you know that are zero chance of winning the competition, but of course the players and coaches of those clubs will believe whole heartedly that they can win it.

How did they look last week ? If that the new reality ?
Or we could follow the Bulldogs lead by signing Toby Sexton to steer the ship and play halfback and kick the ball on the 5th tackle and because his contract value is much less we could then afford to sign sone genuine quality in other crucial positions.
Not saying Toby Sexton is a superstar, but he’s proven he can steer a team around the paddock and be the basis for some decent attacking structure and because of these traits he’s also proven he can be the number 7 and playmaker for a team on top of the table.

Haha … I hope he brings Critta , Kikau, Tracey. Burton and King with him..

Galvin can remain behind..

Why can't we just stick to a rebuild for once?

The team is better, we have been smashed with injuries, suspension, and SOO these last couple of weeks. Until then, we were much improved, even with the losses.

The team needs to gel again with the departure of 2 teenagers who think they're all that and undercut every good thing that was building.

Benji is on a steep learning curve and is improving.

With those 2 gone, the season has been upended, but I believe in Richardson's management skills.

None of us is privy to what's going on behind the scenes, neither are the *journalists* (more aptly named forum speculation regurgitators), so we are simply guessing.

Looking at coaches who are available, who is going to take this on? Who is actually any better than BM? A superleague coach? Really? A sacked coach from another NRL team? Really?

I have never been a Benji fan (mods from early/mid 2000's can attest) but he is the coach! He's improving. Our players (the experienced ones, not the overinflated ego, entitled ones) want to play for him, and respect him. Get behind him!

Channelling Tigergran: UTT!
The team is definitely better, but so are the other 16 teams. I disagree that we have been affected with the stuff you mentioned. Our 1,7,9 have played a dozen games together uninterrupted til now.

You're right that we are all guessing, but we have all been following NRL for a very long time. We know how to read between the lines and predict what is going wrong here.

We are all behind Benji 100% because as you said we have no other choice. But, Benji took a shortcut to get to where he is and just because he did that doesn't mean we judge him lightly. We can only discuss results and the processes to get the results, we have struggled with both.

If Benji is serious about coaching, he will go back and assist or coach a lower grade team. Let's say at the end of 2026 and we are still bottom 4, changes are Benji will go back to his media role.

In terms of "sticking to the plan", we ourselves went astray when Farah quit the coaching ranks and Sheens "quit" leaving Benji in-charge without experience.

The club can’t live in fear of him following Benji out the door. If he does, his heart clearly wasn’t in it anyway. I get that they are mates, but if we bring in someone after Benji with a few strings to his bow, Jarome might remember what it was like to have a coach again.

Good the coach has learned self preservation early on (Hitch your wagon to the biggest Horse)
If we had any brains (Which I doubt) and we needed to keep Luai, Surely you look at a Ben Gardiner
or someone that Luai is familiar with...

How many times did we hear the Coach last year say
"I don't wanna talk about Last Year, Last Year is last Year - Now we're in this year"

I'd bet he has no problem referencing last year, this year when justifying the performances
(Or suggested improvements)

Think the ship is the same as Costa Concordia...with an incompetent captain!!
Will Luai stay if Benji goes...??
Maybe
.Need to engage he and Api in the decision, along with Benji, including his replacement
Its when ,not if..the timing of which will be totally linked with our results for the balance of the year
