OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

Taking shots at Richo is weak...

Galvin is a great footy player, he just isn't a starting number 6 or 7 for the Bulldogs this year. I don't know where he fits in next year... Galvin isnt a 7 and neither is Burton... Unless they are signing a genuine 7 like DCE, I am struggling to see how the Galvin project works..

Yeah, the big concern is how this club identified Galvin as the long term 5/8 and offered him a huge contract and had Latu as a lock. That's awful. Just looking at the speed and skill and explosiveness of Ezra Mam in comparison and all Galvin has is work rate and an occasional good pass. He is very slow, weak in the tackle, inconsistent and disorganised in his passing and has a poor kicking game. You'd think his ceiling, if he gets a better kicking game and irons out his over playing, is someone like Kieren Foran. But even Foran at his peak wasn't top of the league.

How did our club get it so wrong with Galvin?

I think the plan was the opposite with Latu being preferred and Galvin knew his role here long term wasn't going to be in the halves

Yep Galvin will end up being the lock

He’s a putrid number 6, slow now and the more he grows the slower he will get

I don’t think Richo offered him anything quite near that tbh. The offer was apparently never looked at by Moses so Richo went straight to the media to inflate Galvins price and tarnish him for turning it down, bit of damage control
If that’s true, Richo is a dumbarse as that makes him as a negotiator and the club as a destination both look poor.
It also made Gould look good as he got him under that number.

Hype.
They all drank the coolaid and ignored his weaknesses whilst making excuses for his lack of polish and execution.

They’ve pretty much screwed themselves out of a halfback by sending Sexton on his bike. They’ve put all their eggs in the Galvin in the halves basket that when it fails, it’s going to set them back.
Same thing we’ve done with Api.
Gould and Richo are from a different era….

Foran in his early years at Manly was one of the best, and very tough as well. Injuries stopped him

Irrespectively, Richo may look like a genius now. You’ve just got rid of a knob of a player who whilst talented is not a good team player.

Did it ever occur to you, that maybe Richo set this whole thing up?

Yep. Maybe there was never going to be any offer from Richo as he knew what was coming.

Just like we may never know the real reason behind the departure of TDS.

In 2029 when Richo is sipping margueritas on a beach in Mexico, he’ll tell a story to the person on the next beach chair how he did this to retain Dally M winner Latu Fainu & Clive Churchill medallist Jared Haywood, his proudest roster management moments before retirement!
