Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

My opnion is Benji has been narrow minded with Feledy. I don't think he has the mobility to be a top line centre, but I do believe he has attributes that can contribute to an NRL team. His strength in carrying the ball and hole running is impressive. His nuggety frame suggests to me he could be a Mr fix it man off the bench. Easily slot into lock, edge backrow and even hooker with the right training while covering injuries outiwde. He could be a real impact player giving a team leg speed through the middle against tiring forwards. I would have liked to see him have a go at that type of role
his defence has always been his problem though

Spot on.

Bula isn't disloyal for signing with Moses. It's our stupid mistake by signing Galvin and co and then realising that his "agent" was taking up a training job with the bulldogs. This left him to discover one for himself ... and we brought stupid IM back to the club! *ARRGH*

AD signing with Moses now means he gets to walk. He knew that was a great big middle finger to us and that hurts as we really did carry him for several years injured. Sure AD has had hot games and he has had cold games.
I think the AD gets to walk is a little out of context.

He was given a 1 year extension, by us.

He can go anywhere, and sign anywhere at any time.

I am a fan, but I can’t tell you where his best position actually is? Starting Halves next year, we have filled, centres next year if May kicks, filled.

He would be a great 14, however I don’t think he would be happy with that.

Engaging Moses could mean that he has already been told, or has felt that he may not get what he wants and or what he feels he is worth in the future here.

We as a club need to see this as a positive, not that we could lose Adam, but that we have better suited candidates that are keeping him from a starting spot.

You have been transferred to manly with Feledy for this ridiculous comment.

Are you feeling ok?

Ricky recruited Savage and Weekes who were athletes, very fast but lacking in a number of areas. He has developed them into really good footballers and he deserves credit for having the vision to understand how they would improve the Raiders. Sloan is similar.
Great thoughts. I don't think enough credit is given for coaches turning pretty average players into solid, reliable first graders. An example is Sam McIntyre, Payton and the Cows have done an outstanding job on his game.

Spot on.

There is also a big cross correlation with a variety of factors that makes this either excellent or or fail.

Speaking from experience coaching an above average team previously (strong competition and strong standard).
-Some are sponges, never stop learning or engaging to learn.
-some won’t or can’t take anything on and are instinctual players primarily.
- others have either had it too easy coming through and just aren’t open to changing what has worked to get them here.

TBC, many have fallen in between the 3 options presented and have a good mix of Multiple, but that’s a pretty good explanation of what I have encountered in my 5+ years of coaching a above avg local competition (with adults, not kids).

Examples of the type of player would be:
- Alex seyfarth,
- Selwyn Cobbo
-David fifita

Some players with talent are Un-coachable. To get the best or improve any or all players irregardless of standard is a huge feat itself. And extremely rewarding.

i liked Sam ,but he has taken a long time over a few clubs to become a bit player. Coaches have taught him little , jst persisted with him , Under par with Seyfarth imo

I just realised we only have 23 spots filled for 2026

I imagine Hope gets upgraded to add some hooker depth to the top 30 so I’ll say 24

most other clubs already have 28+ spots filled

We are going to need at least three signings

that is where the salary cap works against lesser teams .The dumb clubs need more help, But fair is fare Only fare solution i see ,is crap clubs stock piling cap $'s to be spent in say over 5 years. To stay in the confines of some sort of cap. Hopefully that will stop the arms race / wroughters bogging the comp down in a perpetual top 6

Would suspect May, Mapapalangi + Tu'itupou will take Naden, Feledy & Staines respective positions, so I can see us easily at 27 for instance (and I think thats an upgrade - each would be on minimum and offer more other than potentially Staines).

Leaves us three positions. IMO need a starting lock, halves depth and unsure on the final spot. Maybe another edge forward? But really, would be looking to drop big money on a lock - snag a star from somewhere.

Did u count bud ?

Of all agents to represent one of our key players, we picked him?

If that’s true then maybe it happened for Doueihi too.

All I see is that Bula is more well liked around this forum, so it’s okay for him to be with Moses but not okay for Doueihi.
It shows how our former board may have had ties to him, I think them even just suggesting a manager for one of their players should be a breach of the salary cap rules. It also demonstrates that after everything he did in 2017 when he helped gut the club, the club would still recommend him. It shows how incompetent and out of their depth the former board were.
Bula has stated he wants to stay when asked about his manager after the Galvin saga. It's not that people leave, it's the way they leave. It's all good for Bula now, but the stories will start once he's up for renewal. Just like with AD now. All he has to do is come out and say it's all garbage. But he won't cause it's the narrative his new manager wants out there. If Bula tells his manager to keep his mouth shut and do his job, noone will have an issue with it. We will see when the time comes.
