Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Perth Bears most certainly will and I’d say plenty of clubs would be very interested at around the 1.2 million range, so we would need to outbid almost everyone to even be in the conversation.
I said 1.5 as I reckon that’s what Perh Bears will be offering, 1.3 to 1.4 minimum for us to even be a chance.
If we offered him that kind of money, Every other player would demand more, besides it would basically ruin our chances of being able to afford any other decent players.

what would we be comfortable paying a guy like Tino ?
When a front rower is on a figure like a million dollars it can throw ur cap out .
It’s hard for us to target a high earning prop I reckon given what Terrel May has offered us. He potentially deserves an upgrade and an extension and given his statistics rank better than any forward maybe bar Hass this year optics might not be great to bring in another prop earning more than him. He has earnt his spot as current top dog within our pack.

Is Tito a better FB than Bula?... his second half was brilliant
If only Bula could go looking for the ball as much as turuva did.
Bula is still way too passive. We need him hovering around the middle if the ruck, taking quick hit ups and getting us in the front foot, supporting offloaders etc.
He's currently a 600k player for a top side. Needs to inject himself into attack so much more if he wants to take his game to the next level

The Bears have got to work with the same cap as every other club. 1.5 is Nathan Cleary money. Tino isn't affecting games like Cleary does to be in the same breath as 1.5 million.

Good player, but the truth is forwards always need support from other guys, whereas your half can have way more impact on a game beyond the physical. Swap Cleary with any other half in the Brisbane grand final and put Tino in there at lock/prop, wherever you want, and Penrith lose that game. That's why he's never going to be worth that much % of the salary cap. Titans are overpaying at 1.2 million In my opinion.

Depends on new tv deal but 1.2 million over 5 years…
Maybe 1.3 even
Would be transformational for our team
Would be a great addition but the downside is if we throw that much money at one player our depth list suffers. As long as we have juniors who can step in to cover injuries it would be an awesome signing.

Bula is a quality player and Richardson has said in the ABC interview the club will activate his clause for 2027. He is the type of player you want injecting himself when he senses an opportunity, not doing hit ups which can be done by other players. He will be even more effective with Latu Fainu a genuine threat every time he has the ball in hand. I am looking forward to the combination they build
