Richo on ABC radio
Tjanka for the share

Have a listen.

Very encouraging

I agree with @TSP, richo's interview sounded like self promotion not club first arguments. It was all what he'd done and how bad the past was. That may be true but I want leaders to talk about the collective, to suppress urge for individual accolade and present things based on collective success. It sounded to me like he was bitter and that he wanted people to know what HE had done and how good HE is.

I actually like what he's done and think he is making progress but I didn't like his approach in that interview. You only have to look at Benji in the press conference to see how to do it properly. It's all about 'us' to Benji, he refused any personal credit or point scoring. Where Richo seemed entirely focused on it. Richo is still going on about the previous administration. We don't care about that, Richo, we know they were incompetent and there's absolutely no credit given for saying you're doing better than them.

Ultimately it's about wins, and everyone knows that. But I don't like a showboating ceo and I think he should cut that out and get some thicker skin, all this 'i don't care what people say about me' and 'i don't pay attention to all that stuff's and then a long list of all the things people have said and how they're wrong. It sounds a little childish and Richo should be better. I EVEN think he is better than that.
Yeah, I thought the “ ef my critics” line was self indulgent nonsense.

And comparisons between his regime and the old one don’t need to be made, because they are no longer around anyway.

The fact that he devoted a considerable amount of time and effort to justifying the regime shows he is sensitive to the criticism despite what he says.

That he went on the achievement attack given the team and Benji is struggling doesn’t align with many fans and members concerns. I thought he could have been more sympathetic.

But he wasn’t being interviewed properly.

You are on the money - good leaders use we, and us not I.

Benji's presser yesterday, after the win, credited the team but he also said that what we disshed up was below par in the second half. The comments to Latu and Twal after the game were a clear indication that he has the playing group on side.

To me that is the first real demonstration that he has has mastered that side of the coaching gig. There is evidence that we can perform - we are still too patchy though. I think much of that has to do with inexperience in the roster.

Richo would be much better if he followed Benji's lead and credited Benji and the playing group and used us and we a lot more and didn't worry about where we have come from as everyone know that. He needs to focus on where WE are going and how WE are going to get there.

And as a member, Its a bit disconcerting that Richo gives out more detailed info in these random interviews than we ever get.

I said he should less talking, I might qualify that and say he should do less talking about his greatness, because reputation is bestowed by others not created.

Nobody knows if the decision to retain Api over TDS will work out.

Interesting he said on the ABC interview that every decision the board has made has been unanimous…this is on the back of Dennis Burgess recently saying the club has never been more united …. Looks like HBG might share his vision? … Strange days indeed … most perculiar mama …

Richo firing away deluxe on the ABC earlier today …

Getting ready for 360

Says Benji is not going anywhere
He thinks Bula is worth the option money
They make a million for a sold out Commbank and $450k for a sold out LO…
Not having a crack as I know you are relaying what Richo said. . A mill for sold out Commbank but how often would it be sold out? These days Leichardt is sold out most games so is there really a difference (unless we had a miracle and made the finals for once)?

Apart from the references to external matters and finance, most of his argument supporting the status quo and the grand plan is based around “ trust me”

And then he provides examples of correct decisions from his Glory Days.

He says we have to follow a plan, but he should have been asked how his other plans went that were not successful.

For example, 5 post gf years at Souths flopped, firehawks, his old player manager business, time in the nrl admin- all flops.

So hes basically cherry picking his successes from years ago to justify the current plan.

He doubles down on his Benji love, talks about their close friendship and how wonderful Benji is. I think that’s a bit of a conflict of interest in a professional setting.

These types of close and personal friendships at such a high level create bias and emotions can interfere with good judgments and best decisions.

He should stay in his lane.

What Shane is not registering is the new information. Benji is a poor coach and most of our players are underperforming.

He let slip we are looking for another strike back.

This three year plan, it reminds me of Tim, Madge, Lee…the date keeps being pushed back.

Andrew Moore and Luke Lewis didn’t really confront him and he was allowed to run the discussion. That’s to be expected, they are entertainers.

Unfortunately, for the reasons above, I think he’s got a bit lost in himself and his way.
Don't understand your constant boner for Richo and Benji.
Most can see improvement albeit a slow climb up. Give them a chance. Two years isn't going to do it from the base we started at.

I agree …also LO tends to get the out of town teams which are not going to draw many more at Commbank ( or even less) I would suggest …

I don’t like them playing games at Commbank personally…probably going to have to live with it until the other two are renovated though

Sure.

Most can see improvement, thats a majority argument, based on what they want to do and say, but I prefer to take a more critical approach.

I can’t accept that everything Benji and Richo do is totally good or totally bad from my perspective and I’m expressing that.

As a membership and as fans, we are virtually powerless in this organisation except for voicing concerns.

“Trust me” is a poor guarantee of any success. It’s a throw away line.

Thanks.

At another level, they publish stuff about us because there is a public hunger and demand out there for Wests Tigers material.

A cross we have to bear for being interesting.
Yep, all very transparent. They will now turn their attention to building a rivalry with Tigers vs Bulldogs coming into round 22.
Considering how much control IM has not surprised if he was placing some demands on the dogs? Ciraldo dropped his winger Wilson and reshuffled his backline one hour before the game to give Galvin a start in the halves? Broncos tore them to shreds in the last quarter.

Yes, after the recent dog-fest and the crowd marching down to battle, the media merkins are out for some doggy drama.

They are never far away from controversy given their despicable past.

Ciraldo is a good fit for them.

Good to see Galvo tanking. I’ve heard unconfirmed reports he’s not exactly fitting in with his team mates.

He doesn’t seem to be fitting in on field either. Sometimes a little late getting into position.

Mate come on...LO hasnt sold out since before covid...we got more at parra v penrith than.we have anywhere i think.since.before 2020
I guess they can charge the corps more and cater for many many more

I remember Gus anointed Moylan as the prince of the panthers, Moylan became all shy and bashful and the young St Clair Comet ended up leaving. He was a much better junior than Galvin too.

And as a mad Burto fan, his game has never reached his panther heights.

Richo was quiet about Galvo and said very little about IM.

I think he's referring to corporates more than the crowd.
