Compared to the Dogs almost $7.5m last year
Read Brisbane Broncos annual report mentioned $75m revenue and $8m profit. Now let's say their expenses were $67m and $20m is NRL grant- does that mean they spent $47m.

Before anyone jumps on me, I got absolutely no idea and more than happy for someone who has some idea to enlighten us on this topic

Im not arguing with you, just making two different points I think.

1. More money from the club would help
2. Not relying on leagues club money would be even better.

Yes possibly we are … I’d actually like our owners to put more money in like the Dogs Penrith and Parra do …although it’s likely that doesn’t happen …

I don’t see us ever having the corporate appeal of the Roosters unfortunately ..so we will never be able to compete with them on that basis

Richo is saving more money by having the members day on a Thursday 10 July 2pm-4pm

That is looking after the members who don't have to work. He can save on the free sausage sizzle.
Some of the Administration decisions make you scratch your head as to how out of touch they are.
Suits kids on school holidays.

You think I have an issue vocalising my perspective?

Frankly I wouldn't have done much differently than what he's done.

That is why I can see through it.

My role is his stakeholder. I am a fan. If my role was CEO my perspective would be different.
I don't want to misquote you, but do you mean you wouldn't have done any different yet you have the right to criticise it as a "stakeholder"?

And what exactly can you see through? I'm really not understanding this consipracy.

Too many people focus on the delivery and not the action.

What I can see is a well thought out plan being executed patiently at the club.

Peoplr slag him, but never put their neck on the line when you ask them what they'd do differently. It's likely these people have never been in his position before and are the same people that criticise their own company from the comfort of their 100k a year job...or worse...government workers who have no idea how business works. Apologies to all the gov workers out there.
Yep I’m retired now but was superintendent and when I went on leave someone had to “fill my role”. I picked someone and trained him for a month on the basics of what I did and he scoffed at me about how easy my job was.

When I came back to work he tossed the work phone to me and said he never wanted to do it again. He said he couldn’t handle it on his own and didn’t know how I managed it every day.

The actual job is a lot harder than it looks.

I don’t like to say never or can’t, there’s good business operators like Richo out there, hopefully he transitions us to another one when he moves on.

You make a very strong point.

There is not doubt that Richo is a most impressive talker and is very skilled at deflecting criticism but it is undeniable that much of what he says is about talking up his achievements.

There are many words that you could use to describe Richo, modest is probably not one of them, having said that I am still happy to have him here and believe he will keep us heading us in the right direction.

I think he talks the talk for a positive perception about the club, it's important, it flows on throughout the organisation and the football world.

And part of that perception is that HBG has employed the right bloke to turn things around.

And before HBG invests more, Richo needs to show that the other revenue streams are contributing more, such as membership, sponsorship, game day and so on.

HBG doesn't want to be throwing money into nothingness. I think this might be what he means about shareholders agreement, these shareholders want to see progress.

That's Richo's responsibility and it seems he is doing that.

I'm going out on a limb here but perhaps HBG have told WT that they need to prove that they are financially viable before investing resources. $1M in profit may be able to pay a GM of football, or establish a better pathways program etc.

We are running on an oily rag at the moment.
The only time the Wests Tigers club recorded an operating profit was the 2017-18 FY - which was a meagre $100K...

This "profit" was subsequently all wasted in in bonuses to senior front office management despite our core business of the football department not meeting any reasonable KPIs...

And this meagre profit that the club used to reward the failing front office - was then eclipsed by the NRL imposed $375K fine (with a further $375K suspended) incurred by Pascoe just months later for the Farah fiasco... leaving the club back in the red for ever since...

BUT nothing has changed according to some....

Wests Tigers in the black for first time in club's history

The Wests Tigers have gone from posting a $4.6 million loss in 2016 to rounding out 2018 with a $100,000 profit - and the club did not even play in the NRL finals.
As rivals Cronulla announced a $3 million loss a couple of weeks ago, the joint-venture club have finished in the black for the first time in their 20-year history.

And it was the Ivan Cleary drama that spectacularly led to a late flurry of support from the business sector.
Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe said the club's goal was to end their seven-year absence from September, but off the field the club was more than punching above its weight.

It was not that long ago there was a push to have the Tigers relocated to Perth.
The Tigers finished with a $4.6 million loss in 2016 and a $2.4 million loss in 2017 before the recording a profit this year. Membership also rose from 14,767 in 2016 to 20,709 this season, with forecasts of more than 23,500 in 2019.
The club are also pushing hard to have a women's team included in the Tarsha Gale Cup.
Pascoe would love the Tigers to become "the most financially successful NRL club in Sydney".
As for the Cleary drama, Pascoe told the Herald: "The way we handled the Ivan situation, it impressed a lot of businesses, and we were quickly inundated with support because of the professionalism we showed.

"We had about $2 million worth of commercial growth, but more than $1 million was invested back into the club.
"It's pretty remarkable considering we're a club who hasn't played finals. That's our absolute intent next year, to play finals, and not just next year but to play it every year."
Pascoe returned from a recent trip to the US where he toured different sporting organisations, and they could not believe the competition among clubs in such a small market like Sydney.
"The Braves were talking about their financial success and how they were driving their income, and they said they were fortunate because a couple of states around them did not have an allocated baseball team, so they aligned themselves with us," Pascoe said.

"When I told them we had 20 professional sporting organisations within 30 miles of Sydney, they nearly fell off their chair and asked, 'how do you compete?' It's a challenge but I've always said we wanted ot re-engineer, not rebuild this club.''
While the front office is in order, Pascoe knows the fans are more concerned about on-field performances.
The long-term signing of Luke Brooks, the signing of new coach Michael Maguire and a fit again Josh Reynolds are reasons for hope.
The club also have until June 30 to fill the final spot on their 30-man roster, and have made it known they are in the market for an outside back.

That’s because we’ve been humbled for so long, we feel empathy towards each other and immediately bond.
Yes, a shared experience like no other.

I willingly brought this misery upon myself.

Now, somewhat unfortunately, I can’t see a way out.

I don’t often see people wearing our colours but when I do they are usually being hurled out of a pub because they are off their face at midday or they are wandering around scabbing cigarette butts off the ground and donkey rooting them from the one they already have going.
I give them a nod…
Fine, but there was no need to spit on me and suggest I find gainful employment.

I’m sorry.

Post the name up of the company and I’ll use one of my google burner accounts to slay them in the reviews.

Apart from the snooty waitress, I’ll get up to some mischief.

Stale food (mould), watered down beer, pervert bar attendants serving drinks to minors, safety hazards, ask your mrs and if she orders, I’ll take the assignment.
Not sure if I should let you have that much fun but what was even funnier was some of the crap that went down at the place we stayed at for a couple of nights:
  • Got locked out of our 3 bed apartment on the first night and were stuck out in the cold for over an hour in mid Winter because the batteries in the lock went flat and they couldn't undo the battery cover because the screw securing it had a damaged thread and would not come out.
  • The people from reception and also the bar manager couldn't get the job done and I fixed it in the end.
  • There were ants in the kitchen.
  • There were ants in 2 of the 3 beds.
  • The taps in one of the bathrooms were loose and it felt like at some stage there would be a water fountain and the place would get flooded out.
  • 2 of the split system air conditioners were full of dust and the first time they were turned on it looked like operation desert storm, as a result they were not used again.
  • Apart from all that, there were stains on some of the soft furnishing and the place could have used a general tidy up and a dulux renovation would not have gone astray.
  • Other than that, all good. 🤣
The funniest part was when we got back a couple of days later I got an email asking to provided a review, of course I slammed the shit out of the joint not expecting it to be published, but low and behold I then received an email thanking me for my review and a link was provided for me to see it.

All true, unfortunately.

Shane in action on the 360 highlights.

“Not many would have taken the coaching job”

Object: to promote Benji
Reality: it was never advertised, he can’t make this assertion. Club had 16 quality Applicants for the position when Tim binned them and appointed himself. Plenty of people would want the job. It’s the ‘effing NRL.

“He’s intelligent and learning”

Object: promote Benji
Reality: Very little evidence of intelligence. Team is underperforming. He should be ready to coach and not still learning.

“ I think he’s done a great job”

Object: personal endorsement of Benji
Reality: team is struggling. Some despicable results. Worst coach in the nrl by some distance. Objectively, I’m sorry, but he hasn’t done a good job. He’s been ordinary to hopeless as a coach.

Also forgets to tell 360 that Benji is a close personal friend.

“ I never want to lose a junior”

Object: the junior rhetoric!
Reality: He cut Galvo and TDS early, many other juniors released in favour of recruiting from elsewhere!

“That’s why we bought Luai”
Object: to promote the decision to keep Api over TDS
Reality. Talks began with JL before Shane arrived at club.

“Fijians seem to play forever”
Object: promote Api
Reality: API is not an 80 minute player and is in decline.

“API hasn’t signed”
Object: answering a question
Reality: We get rid of TDS before signing Api. Api can now name his price, poor management. Richo unable to promise outcome.

“ JL has shown no signs of leaving early”
Objective: soothe fans
Reality: We remain at risk. JL’s dad reminded us. Richo unable to promise outcome.

So there’s our valued and important leadership group unsigned.

So far, hes going reasonably well on the (lack of) self promotion front at 7 mins in.

Don’t miss part 2 tomorrow.

Go Richo…

There is a difference Dogs leagues club constitution was setup for the support of the footy club directors across two boards alternate and work together. Wests in old school terms don’t exist. The Wests Tigers are setup post the club. Richo knows this his goal is to make the club financial.

I haven’t looked at the numbers but you will find Wests Ashfield and even Cambo pour big money into junior leagues.

They should market it as the Aussie Fawlty Towers!

Gus Gould can be Basil.

It’s a been a good time watching and listening to him being slandered.

He’s extremely sensitive about his good name. He’s been a conniving muppet for a long time.
