Benji is trying to pave his way as a coach and a kid he backed to the hilt turned on him. I’m guessing he was really hurt and you’re overthinking again.
No, I’m not overthinking.

We can’t get down on our knees and let the little f-wit know we are hurt because it empowers him.

The message to him should be that we hold him in utter contempt.

Which us fans and members do.

Stand up for ourselves.

“ Hurt?” They can’t be serious, they hate his guts. Quite rightly.

Richo on NRL 360 is talking to the fans.

I am a fan.

I care about wins.

I know the HBG is profitable.

I know we generate the lowest revenue in the NRL.

Richo saying we made 1m in profit.

Confirms we have the lowest expenditure in the NRL
.

That is maths.

We have the lowest expenditure and we are three time reigning wooden spooners.

Is it hard to see the correlation?

Does it now make sense why I couldn't care less about making a profit or are we still confused?
Did he actually say those words that we generate lowest revenue in the NRL and that we made $1m profit?

I had enough lies from dumb and dumber.

Prefer a straight shooter who will call a spade a spade.

He said Benji was hurt (understandably), and validated by how the team reacted, Richo was just shocked they didn’t want to look at the deal.

Richo should have kept his emotions to himself on this one.

All he needed to do was to tell the public that Galvo is a creep (surreptitiously if needed) and book himself and Benji in for some grief therapy.

“Hurt” weak nonsense.

A banal attempt to win sympathy.

I mostly agree with your point but curious how you know we have the lowest revenue?

Last time I looked we didn't have proper financials available?

Richo made an emotional appeal against Galvo. We should feel sorry for him and Benji, they were “hurt”.

Played the victim with it.

That was quite an interesting message.

I think we are more angry than hurt. Being hurt gives Galvo more power. Puts our feelings in his hands.

I don’t think so.

As CEO I would’ve said “ I think he’s made a big mistake” or something similar. Something to support the lads, boost us up a bit at his expense.
I think he needs to be a little careful about what he says. He moved on and said he can't really talk about it.

I believe both parties signed a non-disclosure if I'm not mistaken.

Good to know you would have said he made a big mistake though. The answer to that one question doesn't make a material difference to anything we are doing as a club, so don't stress about it. It's not email worthy.

They should market it as the Aussie Fawlty Towers!

Gus Gould can be Basil.

It’s a been a good time watching and listening to him being slandered.

He’s extremely sensitive about his good name. He’s been a conniving muppet for a long time.
Tim Sheens can be the Major!

Zoe Marshall can be Polly.

Yes and he can report that back to the board and soak up the accolades. I as a fan don't give a shit. And in fact consider the fact the HBG aren't letting the club spend it's profit and then some an indictment on them.

Is this really so hard to understand? I am like... baffled why this is even controversial.
No, you’re entitled to not give a shit but not everyone shares your point of view.

All that data shows is the absolute mess that Richo took on. His predecessors would actually beat their chests and had fans believing they were actually doing well financially.

Thank Tommy Raudonikas and Wayne Pearce the club is now being transparent and has a plan.

I'm not actually trying to persuade people to agree with me. I made a comment and was immediately called dumb. I've just been trying to explain the same thing over and over again and new people keep acting like my perspective is either confusing or something that it is not.

Which is ironically why it's so easy for Richo to just make a superficially positive remark and everyone just accepts it. Any perspective that has nuance is met with a negative response these days because everyone is a stressed out burned out individual.

Let me retract any and all remarks and instead say.

"Clap clap Richo you did it king you turned a profit how lit fam."

Read Brisbane Broncos annual report mentioned $75m revenue and $8m profit. Now let's say their expenses were $67m and $20m is NRL grant- does that mean they spent $47m.

Before anyone jumps on me, I got absolutely no idea and more than happy for someone who has some idea to enlighten us on this topic
Hey mate, the grant part of the revenue (there are rules about how and when you can claim grant funds as revenue, no idea how it is interpreted in the NRL)

The number you quoted was for 2023. Their expenses were 67 mil.

The breakdown of non grant revenue and their expenses is here

the cash flow statement is interesting, it looks like the received 21mil in cash from NRL but only posted 19m as revenue. The remainder gets held as cash, when you invest it the interest becomes revenue. I would love to see the Roosters books compared to ours. It wouldn't surprise me if they have interest revenue higher than our total revenue haha.

So the grand plan of the new board to achieve success is to say no to HBG funding? Nah man.

If the HBG aren't spending money on the club that's their decision. There's no way the club operation would say no to free money.
As a for profit business it’s entirely the “grand plan” of the board and CEO to make the club profitable. In addition HBG should absolutely be contributing funding to WT in addition to bankrolling junior leagues and pathways.

Very interesting, Richo is doing his job to sell this well but I share your concerns about likely underinvestment in football.

It's impossible to know without access to the books but the two sides to this are you can't win without spending money and you can't spend money you don't have. We have a long way to go unfortunately.

Yes I expect you are right.

I was measured in my hypothetical alternative utterance. I thought about the sensitivities.

Hand on heart, I think Galvo and the people around him has/have made a big mistake.

He had the good running with us on many levels, especially in relation to his development as a footballer.

Wholly ironic that he used this as an excuse to take flight.

At that point I concluded he was “ taking the piss” as the expression goes.

For the most part I think people are just expressing their viewpoint. A lot of people here are interested in the club’s governance and management and how that impacts the success of the club as a whole. I get it, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but your comments prompted a lot of interesting discussion.
