Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Mate Elliot would be a walk up starter in our team every week. Could play 13 which would allow us to have Twal back as bench prop and strengthen our rotation there. El
At this point in time yes; next year???
Who knows what another off season will produce from the younger players, who knows what will 'fall from the trees' and who knows what motivation a 30+ forward on the decline has. I say let's stick with the process and get away from signing older players that other clubs don't want.

When he hired Moses Sheens was around. Sheens and Moses are chummy. And Sheens is who unearthed Bula. It makes perfect sense from Jahream's perspective.
Difficult to say Sheens ‘unearthed’ Bula.
He came along to training with a mate that was at the tigers. Sheens just happened to be in charge at the time. But did say he was impressing the coaching staff.
PS I’m a Sheens admirer for what he did for the club overall.

Sheens is the one who identified his talent and gave him a preseason.

if Madge was still at the club Jahream would currently be playing on the wing for Ryde-Eastwood.

With the possible reduction in squads to 25 and expansion of the competition, available talent will be spread more thinly (not evenly) around the clubs. The SMH reported 85 players will be then made available for clubs and we will see a flow on pay rise as squads decrease with the same cap payments.

It wasn’t hard to identify.
He joined us mid 2022 on the recommendation of his good mate Trey Peni who was captain of our Jersey Flegg team at that time.
He quickly gained a reputation as an extremely fit and fast athlete with plenty of potential.
Game 1 of the 2023 season he played in our young NSW Cup team that flogged the Roosters at Leichhardt Oval, Bula scored a length of the field try from a kick return, Kitione Kautoga playing for us at that time terrorised the Roosters defence on the right edge scoring 2 tries and Brandon Tumuth scored 3 tries on the left edge.
The Roosters team was decent and included players such as Siua Wong.
Not long after Sheens give Bula his NRL debut and Kautoga departed to the Bulldogs seeking a better opportunity.

he certainly gained a reputation quickly, but as you would know there's plenty of players that do well in Flegg and don't progress. Sheens gave him a preseason and by Round 10 he was named to start in first grade and never looked back.

Kautoga's one we'll live to regret in due time. he's going to be a very good player once he beds down properly in first grade. his ballplaying ability hasn't been utilised just yet.

That’s gonna be hard . With the introduction of sports science , and rest , longer rehab times , as well as concussion protocol , how teams will reduce their squads to 25 players is gonna be interesting . If that happens there will have to be a reduction in games .it doesn’t make sense otherwise

A contributor in the All Things Wests Tigers facebook group believes we are one of 3 clubs interested in Harrison Hassett.

Apparently he was about to be selected in the 17 for Penrith this weekend but was taken out just before team lists were lodged on Tuesday. The contributor said the last time this happened was when Turuva was left out by Cleary the week he signed with us.
