LIVE GAME Round 19 v Warriors

Live Game Discussion
Yeah he isn’t a captains arsehole and never ever has been.
I think that's really harsh and a reflection more of general frustration with the team. Api plays his heart out every week and if he was on my team he'd be someone Id look up to. Just about the smallest bloke on the field and doing everything. He may not be the perfect captain, but I just don't see the same effort from the rest of the team. At training he is the clear leader as well. Ultimately he bears some responsibility for our lack of success but I'd say he's been beaten down by our club and drained by Benji over playing him.

I get the disappointment, I just think it's bad for our club and our players to make such harsh statements about a player who clearly cares a great deal about the club and plays with everything.

Surely amid all the struggle it's worth showing more respect. I'm not saying he's above criticism or anything like that, but your comment there is not the equal of your usual insight and perspective.

We need a couple of big, strong aggressive forwards, like a few of those kiwis. If we don’t we will be bottom four again next year.

From what I’ve seen of KPP, he is not strong or aggressive, where are they going to come from?
Hes a passenger more often than not
I wonder if he'll be picked for England and miss most of our pre season like ol toe rag jonneh

I dunno....we could have afb, jfh and jwh and theyd be like baby G, twal and Hunt here...

I struggle to recall a recruit that weve improved...maybe terrel but he was used much differently at the Roosters and hes showing signs of a long year...still.good today tho

To be fair I think I've seen us try and we get pulled up on it.. maybe we just aren't as good as the other sides at doing it
Yes you can’t step forward unless you are immediately playing the ball in the same motion, the key is to also get up from the tackle moving forwards as well.
I’d say because we are so dominated in the ruck that we don’t have the option to do it that way. Pole is probably the only forward that could roll forward and play the ball in front of the mark but he spends too much time flopping about like a flounder hoping the referee awards him being unfairly wrestled.

If the table stays like this at the end of the season I'm happy
I certainly won't be happy. WT are currently 6 competition points, plus then needing a further 124 for and against points to even be able to stumble into the last finals berth.

Geez, we need 2 more wins and 253 extra f/a points than the dolphins on the run home for a chance to still just come 10th, and for it to be considered a successful season.

I have always maintained he isn’t a captain.
He may lead on the field through actions at times, but he never seems to rally the boys, never seems to lay down the law and tell them to fall in line and keep to the plan, isn’t a good communicator and seems to struggle to put cohesive sentences together fullstop.
That’s not very inspiring.
On top of that, he has played in 3 of the better squads weve assembled over the past decade and returned 2 spoons and a current bottom 4 position.
He is always near the top of the list for most missed tackles, and his discipline isn’t great either…last year especially.
I think he is over rated and I laugh when Tigers fans - who are the only ones by the way - say that it’s BS he isn’t in Origin.
In a perfect world, he would be leaving us next year, but instead, a player with a dozen years in top grade in front of him, who we have been grooming to one day take over, was pushed out to extend him.
IMO he ain’t a captain mate and that’s not just emotion speaking.

What are the 3 betterr squads we have assembled? Our squad have been weaklings for years

And I think all those points you make are valid. I disagree a little on leadership ability and think you are too critical of his play, but again that's all just opinion. For me, what a captain says publicly is irrelevant. Coach speaks and is public, the captain says everything in house. Even if he's not a big talker I believe captains can lead in different ways. But I've seen him in training in the middle of the team talking to them and leading the tempo. Has he been effective? It's hard to argue that, but I personally think we'd be a lot worse without him, and that's a scary prospect.

Above all that, I don't think he's ever shown anything but high intensity and great passion for the club. So I think your insulting language towards him is what I question. Whatever you think of his play and leadership, surely he deserves our respect. And you usually do that well in judging players without too much sentiment or emotion.

Presser was just Benji pumping up the warriors and the usual “we’re on the right path”, “ proud of the effort” 🤦🏻‍♂️
For the first time, he came across like he didn’t care if gets the arse. He kind of just shrugged. Deep down, he doesn’t care. He knows he has a media job waiting for him. This is a vanity project for him.

I think that was evident when he was at Saints. When we signed him I was hoping for a revival of form, but alas…no.
Name one player in the past we ever signed at that stage of his career who’s turned back the clock to give you false hope like that? We’re not that club.

He sounded like a man out of ideas. How many times have we heard him say something along the lines of "I need to look at how I'm coaching", and then the next week nothing has changed?
The players love him though. That’s the main thing. Can’t win for him, but they love him.
