Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Ponga allegedly has engaged an NZ rugby agency to explore options despite still being contracted to the Knights for a further 2 years. One reason given is that he doesn't want to waste his best years at a club which may not win a premiership. Do you believe the two expansion teams looking for a big name signing will allow this to occur?
So how will he win a premiership at either of those ? The PNG is just a pipe dream and will be finished in 5 years. Perth may take longer but they won't be winning a premiership by the time he's 30+ either.

Our halves looked like fish out of water for most of yesterdays game and only started looking decent when we had Doueihi playing as a 1st lot receiver getting over the advantage line quickly and creating time and space for them to play.
He certainly got us on the front foot and upped the tempo. Really told me he should be in the middle.
I know he's playing for a contract but I'd keep him and I think he's found his spot. Wish he played
in the middle earlier in the game. Still got no threating general kicking game. Drives me insane.

So what you would of kept Da Silva and let api go would you. Da Silva is massively over rated has nothing on api despite he's performance.
I would have offloaded players when I had either an equal or better replacement for the one I'm letting go, instead of just being taken for a mug and bent over to save a whopping 150k.
Better yet I'd demand our useless deadbeat owners sell the joint to someone who actually gives a toss about it and is willing to actually fund the damn thing properly So we're not operating on the smell of an oily rag all the time.

Modman

Look at this way is Api capable of playing 80 minutes in this current tigers side they way it is coached??

Short answer is no and Hope is not the answer either, and we can not afford to rush Haywood either.
Only for next season Bellend, I'm assuming in 27 Haywood will start to be brought in to first grade, we prob only need someone to cover Api for next year.

So we're not operating on the smell of an oily rag all the time.
This has been a bit of a popular topic across most threads recently. Do we know how accurate it is? Has anyone actually compared football department spending here to other clubs?
I agree it does look to be true but am curious just how much difference there is.

He's a good player but I think he hasn’t shown enough to earn his massive payday. Some relief for the knight fans at long last.

AOB coming onto the market, maybe we hire him to help Benji?

The attack revolves around Ponga and he is always heavily marked. Sharp, Gagai, Best and KPP should have been utilised more by AOB. A big no to AOB at the WTs.

Adel Hage spoke about it on a podcast. Gave an example of clubs having 4 - 5 scouts out looking for talent.
We have 1 Shannon Gallant. As one example of how one of our programmes are massively underfunded and we struggle to compete. Shannon isn't even a full time scout.

The club handled the Da Silva matter well imo. Rather than have him stuck behind Koroisau as would have been the case if the club required him to fulfill his contract, he was released to the Eels. I am sure his manager, who will probably also benefit financially from his move, will not forget what Richardson and Marshall did. We have plenty of his clients at the club and hopefully a few more now.

Paws I agree, though as with Galvin they should have been released at the end of the season.

It was posted here before but god knows where now....it was discussed on fb after richo was on 360 last week.
WTs .
HBG <->$1.7m in 2024 ...$1.5m in '23....
....compared to Bulldogs for example $7.3m last year

Wouldn't it be great if the NRL kept these stat's and financials for all clubs on publicly available Web pages.

Been that way forever, I heard some numbers around the early 2010's.
Wests and Balmain put 150k into Wests Tigers each (300k Total)
and Dogs had put 4 million into the NRL Side
- They went on to challenge for 2 Comps, We've been in Freefall since that exact time.
Some Clubs want to win,
Some want somewhere to look important at a social gathering on the Weekends.

I know you're an old Maggie Ink,
But it cracks me up when I see the endless posts about Ashfield having 'All' the money?
Having it, And spending it on a Football Side are 2 different things (Ask Ole Harry)
the size of the Wests Group and the Ground it covers, We should be a financial powerhouse.

Listening to them talk about the investment in Sporting Franchises this morning talking about the investment in Wrexham.
Bought a few years ago for 2.5 Mill in 2020, Currently Worth a reported 475 Mill.

HBG just don't know what they have
- We're massive now, Image they actually believed in it a bit.
