Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Been that way forever, I heard some numbers around the early 2010's.
Wests and Balmain put 150k into Wests Tigers each (300k Total)
and Dogs had put 4 million into the NRL Side
- They went on to challenge for 2 Comps, We've been in Freefall since that exact time.
Some Clubs want to win,
Some want somewhere to look important at a social gathering on the Weekends.

I know you're an old Maggie Ink,
But it cracks me up when I see the endless posts about Ashfield having 'All' the money?
Having it, And spending it on a Football Side are 2 different things (Ask Ole Harry)
the size of the Wests Group and the Ground it covers, We should be a financial powerhouse.

Listening to them talk about the investment in Sporting Franchises this morning talking about the investment in Wrexham.
Bought a few years ago for 2.5 Mill in 2020, Currently Worth a reported 475 Mill.

HBG just don't know what they have
- We're massive now, Image they actually believed in it a bit.
Mate I totally agree....my old man used to curse them every time we drove past ashfield which was often as we lived near the club...been going on since i was at school and im 60 now.
Ashfield dont give a shit about the RL side of things.
I cant blindly support them like a few on here when this has been going on for decades.
We are forever behind the 8 ball.and giving other clubs massive starts.
I now hear the much hyped Cambo office of WTs has closed....i hope thats not true as that would be a major negative step imo and what does it say to the support we have out there regardless of how big it is.
Im Lidcombe era and felt very let down when they went.to Cambo in 87.
I imagine the Cambo support would feel the same

I don’t understand the office closing … it looked like in was in an industrial area… how much are we talking to rent that out with a couple of employees being sent out there from the main office couple days a week ?

Here is the story when it opened ..just 15 months ago… still dubious about them walking away already …im hoping that turncoat has got his wires crossed

Edit - do we have any fans here that actually live in Campbelltown and might be able to drive past next time it’s convenient and see if the office is closed ?

I hope so.too

Funnily enough there are a few there in those photos that have since jumped ship as well.

That bloke in the green "Sherwood" polo shirt (old tennis club) doesn't look all that happy.

I interviewed the late, great, Terry Wand about ten years back who was instrumental in steering the Wyong Roos to the powerful position they hold today. The Roos committee purchased an old house out at Kanwal back when there was nothing out there but cows. He explained to me (but I’ve forgotten the exact detail) how they couldn’t get a Leagues Club license, but were able to get a Rugby League Club licence.

I do know that Wests Ashfield farms a lot of financial support out to a number of sporting organisations and social groups in the western suburbs of Sydney (beyond their support of rugby league). So I wonder whether the constitutional objectives come into play. Whether a Leagues Club has a broader community concern than does a Rugby League Club (like Wyong) ?

The club handled the Da Silva matter well imo. Rather than have him stuck behind Koroisau as would have been the case if the club required him to fulfill his contract, he was released to the Eels. I am sure his manager, who will probably also benefit financially from his move, will not forget what Richardson and Marshall did. We have plenty of his clients at the club and hopefully a few more now.
Its disappointing that TDS and his management held the proverbial gun to our head.

A couple of years of learning from Api and increasing game time and status would have boosted his long term effectiveness and stock.

But players are impatient these days.

And money talks .. $650k a year isn’t a bad earn at his age …so another club already viewed his stock pretty high

He was here learning under Api three years already… he might be a quicker learner than our club believed

Another week, no news of any potential signings for us in 2026.
We must be satisfied with what we already have ?
We seem to be leaving if quite late to fill all of our currently open top 30 roster positions.

Yes, I see your point.

We’ve put a lot of trust in Api. I’m sure his intent and devotion is good, but his health and age worries me a bit.

I haven’t checked his deal yet. Hopefully it’s sensible.

let's be realistic, there's SFA on the market in positions we need to fill for the first grade side.

some experienced depth players would assist for sure, but in terms of some bigger kills at prop and lock I think we'll be waiting a while.

Frizell and Elliot available , covers lock and back row
We need to be going to managers asking the question
Do you have any of these who want out of current clubs
Prop , lock , Centre , Half , Back row , fatten up our depth with want outs and top reserve graders blocked for a go

Well ..we’ll have KPP and Tallyn … along with being another year further along in Benji’s system

Tino is likely available ..Im sure he will be keen to come and play with Benj

No to Friz and Elliot. Rest of post excellent, see what’s out there.

I’m sure we are sniffing about like everyone else.

Although Richo has said recently we want a gun back.

Months and months circling KPP and then nailing him was a good outcome. I think he’s a handy player.

Dylan Brown is walking headlong into a club bloodbath it seems. Not a problem.

think Tino's get-out clause only comes into effect from November, meaning it's from 2027. we've got the money to throw at him but he'd need to go to the Gold Coast asking permission to negotiate if he wants to move any earlier.

throw in the fact that we're quite the sideways move for him and I think it gets even less likely.
