OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

I know we're enjoying Galvin not going well but we have well and truly proven how valuable he is by our absolutely abysmal form since he left. He's obviously struggling at a new club but it's obvious he was pivotal to us. Again, I wish that were not the case and we could prove how we're better off without him. Unfortunately that's not the case.

Maybe we can show something at the back end of our season and prove it otherwise, but I bet he's looking back at our club feeling nothing but relief that he's not a part of this developing train wreck. Sorry to be so negative. But losing and gloating doesn't really work.
I think there are some things he brings to a team that are hard to articulate. It's no coincidence that our season fell apart after we put out that statement regarding him leaving. I don't think these two things are connected via footy though. I think the disharmony he brought to the entire club is more of a factor than his playing ability.

What he did bring football-wise is the ability to execute a three-pass shift from our own half which quite often got us out of trouble. I haven't seen us do that since he left. It was why we lost the Warriors game - we had no territory.

Can you break this down a bit more? Like, what was Galvins role in this?
Galvin was either the 2nd or 3rd receiver in a lot of those shifts. It would often be May to Luai to Galvin to either centre and then a line break. The upside of his play style is that he throws everything at the wall, even shit. The biggest trap you can fall into as a half is letting the hooker take control and have the game pass you by. Galvin at least tries something every set which can often be to the detriment of the team if the opposition shut it down quickly.

Thanks for that. Hopefully Luai can play that role this week.

Wasn't our worst loss against the Storm with him playing? And all our losses and wooden spoon last yr?

Makes a lot of sense from the dogs POV to bite the bullet on Galvin now rather than later. Dragons haven’t been fairly poor this year (even lost to us!) so it’s a pretty low-risk gamble the dogs are taking.

Chances are dogs win this game as their team is overall far superior to the dragons and the media feasts all over Ciraldos brilliant move to put Galvin at halfback, even though the result likely would have been the same had Sexton played 🤷‍♂️.

My sentiments exactly - Burton gets dogs home with a FG in Golden point - Galvin stifles their attack and is outplayed by Kyle.
Yeah that’s the best way. They can win but it doesn’t mean they have to win well and Galvin can have a shit game, though the media will still somehow attribute the win to him 🙄 Hopefully he’ll get hooked at some stage so they can’t.

Ciraldo and Gus will get away with it if things don’t work out because the Bulldogs will successfully spin the narrative—they’ve got mouthpieces in the media. Gus has Channel 9 and Braith at Fox. 9 will never question it, and while Braith might, he also picks up the phone to Ciraldo, so he’s close to the situation either way.

It really comes down to how hard the rest of the media are willing to dig into them... And how vocal their fans get...
