I’m not having a go at anyone but…..

Let’s call a spade a spade, Wests Magpies and success traditionally do not go hand in hand. The only time in the last 50 years was when they were associated with Balmain in 2005, 2010 & 2011.

So it isn’t surprising that since HBG took over we have been on the decline.

However, we live in hope, miracles do happen.

I understand that the latest review made the WT board independent, which I guess is good because it distances us from HBG.

However, what incentive does HBG have by putting more money into WT if they're not going to be able to earn any profits of it?

Do you think WT can survive independently? We already generate the least revenue of any clubs and also invest the least? The owners have been given the opportunity to wash their hands off us in the last review.

Are we just hoping Richo can magically get sponsors and increase our revenue? With my very limited knowledge, I just don't see any sustainability here..
Richo was in charge at Souths and was on the side that organised Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes Acourts privatisation bid. If we ever did privatise, it has to be to a consortium with very, very deep pockets. Perhaps if we're turning a profit we may look more attractive, though Hbg rejected Benny's consortium's bid to but us.

So HBG does get a say in who owns WT?

Don’t want to keep the us vs them argument going, however neither Wests or Balmain were that successful leading up to the merger. Between 1991 and 1999 merger, I believe Magpies made the finals 3 times, Balmain either none or once at best. So if anything Magpies were more successful in the last decade before merge (despite being horrible 1998/99)

No, it’s a club. Clubs are different from businesses.

Clubs promote memberships and members are supposed to have privileges that non members don’t have.

Such as communication.
I see your angle, but where in your membership package does it guarantee you can email the club whenever you like and can expect a response. If they responded to every TSP out there, they'd need to offshore to Philippines to afford the wage bill.

Compared to other members on here, you seem to email them an awful lot. Particularly when you want to have a crack at the administration. If you contacted my company, I would engage the first few times, but it's not an invitation to contact me whenever you want and continue a dialogue infinitely.

im talking about the "independent board".. how much power do they have? Do you know?
The current "independent" Wests Tigers Board still has two HBG Board members (Dennis & Montgomery) - one Balmain nominee through HBG in Stapletoon - and the remaing three independent Board members (including the Chairman O'Farrell) still needed HBG approval before being appointed (despite the post review skills matrix applied in the Board recruitment process).

Montgomery is no longer on the Wests Tigers board and there are 4 independents.

Doesn't really seem "independent"

Well you have absolutely no idea how many times I’ve contacted them.

Which isn’t very many over the 2 years.

You’ve made assumptions about that and me and you’re quite wrong.

Our club does not care that members are interested in sponsoring an NRLW player.

You can make all the excuses you can think of, but that’s the lay of the land.

They certainly used to tell us members that they’d respond but they don’t bother anymore.

And in a couple of months time, they’ll be on their knees again for members.

This is life under Shane Richardson and his administration and we are going to have to get our heads around it.
