Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Toa could be upgraded no doubt. But our biggest weaknesses imo this year has been right backrow - KPP coming in. Left centre - May is a huge upgrade. And lock - Douiehi TBC. We also need more depth.

I think we have been very patient in the market - at time to my criticism as I think with more depth this year we could have easily had another win or two and still be in the running for the 8 - but what we’ve bought is clear upgrades in our biggest positions of weakness.

Lock to me is the big one remaining. Fingers crossed Douiehi can step up or we will need to sign somebody else of serious quality to have a decent chance at the 8 next year.

I also think a 14 in the mould of siliva havillii or Elijah Taylor who actually starts the first 20 would be a massive get for us too. Api can’t play 80 week in week our and I think somebody who sures up the defence in the first twenty is hugely important.

looking at our team list we need some forwards. So I think let’s just sign Payne Haas and Isaah Yeo, maybe even get Olakau’atu while we’re at it. Then OBVIOUSLY we need to replace To’a so I reckon we should just buy Stephen Crichton or Herbie Farnworth. Or maybe both so we have some depth.

Who knew running an NRL team was so easy, I reckon I should get a job at the Tigers straight away!!!! @Richo I’m ready and waiting!

You'll go far on here.

The Dragons have confirmed the signings of twin 16-year-olds Alexander and Cornelius Pupualii in a major retention blow for the Penrith Panthers. The Pupualii twins are Panthers juniors, and highly-rated prospects.

Cornelius is a 193cm-tall centre weighing in at 100kg, who the Dragons view as a long-term member of their back-line. Alexander is a 119kg second-rower, who has unfortunately missed all junior footy this season due to an ACL injury.

These are the type of signings we should be making, not has-beens and also rans.
Sorry if I'm missing sarcasm but these two are never beens?

Twal and Seyfarth are both valuable to our side but if hunt would actually pull his finger out only one would be in the 17 which would be ideal-we need a meter eater hard prop if hunt can’t turn it out.

As for Toa, dude was in great form and was doing it consistently (was looking staggs like). This injury he’s got has killed him. He can barley tackle and has been playing as the ball player on the right because he has zero ability to beat his man and fend (his arm is cooked). Benji is playing him purely on leadership and a lack of depth.

I’m seeing plenty of comments suggesting we now have a strong 1-5 at full strength and it doesn’t really need improving.
Assuming our 1-5 when all players are fit and healthy is;
1. Bula
2.Turuva
3.To’a
4. May
5. Skelton

And we would then have our youngsters in Makasini and Laulilli as back up.
While I do agree it’s much stronger than what we have have had over the past few years, I still don’t think it’s stronger than any rival NRL club.
For those who disagree, what rival NRL team is that 1-5 stronger than when they are also at full strength?
You could be right about the fit and healthy bit, when and how often is Starford fit and healthy?

Wish he could play a bit more often with 2 functioning arms and 2 functioning legs so we could see a bit of consistency and actually see what he's got.

Re Discussion around our attack.
The top sides have a lot more strike on their edges, whether its through the centre or more with their 2rfs. Unfortunately our lack of quality in this area of the field is a huge problem.
The other issue we have is there are no players moving up or in motion in A. We run one out for 4 tackles then maybe play one sweeping play which is slow and obvious then kick and rarely compete for the high ball. We were far better at this with Bula playing but currently we’re awful. Better teams are moving the ball to the edges far quicker and play after play.
Toa is clearly injured and shouldn’t be playing but currently we lack a reasonable replacement.

When was the last time he was in the clear and didn't get run down? And in not talking about from 10m out
It's been a while that's for sure BB but defenses have been in his face knowing he's a threat most of this season when was the last time any of the backs made a clear break besides Bula.
Now that Taylan is in the side it will be interesting to gauge his pace when he gets in the clear, hoping he's quick to make the outside backs more potent.
