Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I would suggest given Richo & his mode of operating Madden is getting whatever Souths is paying for Sullivan.

If Madden was on $350K at the Broncos I would say they are throwing in a $100K.

Unfortunately whatever Sullivan is on then I say Richo has convinced his good mate Blake Sulley for Souths to pay $250K for Sullivan.

Essentially we are even but overpaying for Sullivan...

This is just a suggestion as some have pointed out. 1. The Sullivan deal hasn't been announced & 2. Souths signed Jonah Glover from the Dragons. They already have Jaime Humphries & Cody Walker plus Lewis Dodd. You'd think Sullivan only gets a gig if Dodd can be moved on.

Similarly Souths are paying big overs for Dodd.

NBWT on Twitter tipping Peter Taateo will be upgraded to Top 30:..money must be a bit tight after the latest splurge of Madden
In the games I have watched, Taateo has demonstrated a consistent ability to be able to break the defensive line and make good yardage. He has been in the Raiders' system but is a Panthers' junior so I wonder if some of our ex-Panther players know him.

I'm surprised half the board has the motivation to get up in the morning.

Madden signing for $750k
Costing us Doueihi
Sullivan on somewhere between $550k & $700k
Souths chipping in only $20 for bus fare
Some unknown kid from Qld not coming to the Tigers shows we can't sign anyone
Upgrades for Taatteo, Tu'itupou & Mapapalangi locked in showing we can't sign anyone
Bula gone
Should sign Jaiden Campbell to replace Bula now
Madden to start at 7
Luai gone
Api close to being as agile as the Queen Mary

I've probably missed some

Great post, this thread has gone down the toilet. We have signed a decent back up half who could fill in at 7 on cheap $$$.

Bud aint coming back
AD has an offer
There is $$$ available for a big fish to shake out of a tree.

Plus we have added May and KPP.
Roster is building nicely. No excuses next year for Benji.

It's easy to say he's not worth '900'k. I can understand why, he's looked a bit languid at times this season, but he's a legit talent that's for sure.

I think framing the argument of "Is bula worth 900k' is a bit misleading. I think most decent NRL fullbacks will be on anywhere from 750 upwards... (As usual, probably more for us). I think we should be really thinking is Bula worth the extra couple of hundred grand a season beyond what we are going to need to stump up for a fullback anyway. I say yes.
I somewhat agree. But before paying up I would look at what other options are available. It appears Campbell is one other option that I think is at least worth looking into. Now I doubt hed be much cheaper (for us) but he comes with a completely different skill set. Which skillset would better fit our desired play style?

You know what I’m hoping you haven’t missed ? The team has won the past 3 wooden spoons and is 7-11 so far this season. Do you want to compete for finals or are you just happy participating every year and finishing at the foot of the table … if you want to compete for the finals … how is the squad shaping up so far with most players already under contract next season ? Taylan and KPP moving that dial much ?

In the past 10 weeks they have had two scratchy wins against a reserve grade pack and a 1 pt win against the bottom feeders when they were actually the better team on the day … plenty of work to be done still

If Madden was on $350k at the Broncos , then I would say they are throwing in $100k

You are not the first person to say this .. what makes you say this other than a case of wishful thinking ?

There were three teams competing to sign him … the Broncos are not trying to entice another team to take him on and therefore seem in a strong position to not have to pay anything ..they don’t care where he goes just so long as they don’t have to pay

I don’t know what Souths paid for Sulivan… I’m hoping you are right and they coughed up more money … Im sure we will find out when the deal is done as it will give the media another chance to put the boot in again

I have heard some good reports about him , but I’m hoping there is still money left in the war chest to sign another established middle

Why do you guys get all twisted up on guessing salaries? It gets you nowhere because you'll never find out for sure what players are really being paid.

The salary cap is pretty important Jiksy… more dollars saved means more money to acquire better players when they “fall out of a tree”..

Everyone thinks the media figures are too high ..: but the club is still required to be spending 95 percent of the salary cap each year … we find a way to do this with a much less talented squad than most

Yes he is.
His ceiling is higher than what we are currently seeing.
So you have to factor in a price for potential against the “Tigers Tax” applied to a high level recruit.
Better the devil you know and with better coaching we’ll be in front.

the broncos are paying jock $350,000 and were happy to release him because their cap is tight. we wouldn’t be paying that amount when his only other option was the super league. our offer to AD is the same amount and he isn’t a back up.
heck skelton is in our best 17 every week and is on $230k

Jock was on 350k next year doubt Broncos pay anything, Souths want Bud for 150k we pay 400k that adds up to 750k a year for Jock for the next 2 years. amazing value, spooners for life.
Not a chance that's what's happened. There's no way. We would have got a much better deal out of it than that.

Probably.
As you say our wage bill for halves is already looking extremely high.
I don’t mind Jock Madden as depth, but 350k seems like fairly expensive depth.
Yep 350k is a bit expensive for Jock. I have been thinking 250k tops...

That said, I believe Benji played with him? He knows what he is getting.

Richo is like the return of Sheens to long out of the game, He offered Galvin a million plus for 5 years Stefano 850 for 4 years luckily both rejected. Then signs all his sons clients from the Easts tigers.
The good clubs have a recruitment committee, we have Richo pandering to Benji.
