Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

shifting your team around if one of your halves is out isn’t ideal, wouldn’t it be better to have a back up come straight in and keep Adam at 13 if that’s the plan for him

No… you put the best team on the paddock each week … there are replacements for 13 in the team that have played there most of the season

I think Douehi would be the replacement for both … JL can play either position…

Anyone moot point now is my prediction… I’ve thought even prior to this that they would have done the deal with AD if they really wanted him …
Yeah...but injuries man. You need the backup even if he doesn't play any games in firsts.

.
I actually said we should make a play for Jock Madden as backup half a few weeks ago, experience, game management & goal kicking.

JOCK’S EYE OF THE TIGER

Jock Madden is on the verge of quitting the Broncos with three clubs, including Wests Tigers, eyeing off the Brisbane playmaker.

Sport Confidential can reveal Madden is considering a return to the Tigers club with whom he made his NRL debut in 2021 before his move to the Broncos two years ago.

Madden is contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2026 but is resigned to leaving Brisbane after the club recently extended skipper Adam Reynolds for a further 12 months.

The 25-year-old was being groomed to succeed Reynolds and had played 15 games for the club over the past two years when the Broncos skipper was unavailable through injury.

But under new coach Michael Maguire, Madden has yet to play NRL this season and appears to have fallen well down the pecking order behind Reynolds, Ezra Mam, Ben Hunt, Billy Walters and teenager Coby Black.

Hull FC coach John Cartwright is keen on Madden given his ties to the playmaker as a former assistant coach at the Broncos to Kevin Walters.

But Hull FC face competition from Australia with the Tigers and a second NRL club having contacted his management to inquire about the possibility of Madden leaving the Broncos at season’s end.

The Broncos are battling a salary-cap crunch and would save around $350,000 by releasing Madden, who played 17 games for the Tigers, from the final season of his deal.

Here is the article from yesterday with Maddens current contract deal …. No $100k unfortunately

We’ll agree to disagree ..the “unproven teenager” will be on a Top 30:deal somewhere next season … just like Makasini will be here …
Javon supposedly making his senior debut in the Qld Cup this weekend.
I agree, he will get a top 30 deal with someone for 2026, whether that be us or with someone else.

Probably.
As you say our wage bill for halves is already looking extremely high.
I don’t mind Jock Madden as depth, but 350k seems like fairly expensive depth.

Well… seems the Broncos didn’t want to keep paying him that amount ..I wonder if they even tried to keep Bud or whether Benji is just completely off him and they will just pay what it takes to move him on for 2 years …

it was reported in the media that Souths are paying only $150k this season for Bud … now i don’t know what they will pay next season…. But the leverage is certainly with them and we seem to always get the rough end of the pineapple on these deals… we are soft as
Nice mixed metaphors there, we are both soft and rough

Well… obviously they don’t agree with me … another one …

He is on $350k…he was under contract already at the Broncos for 2026 and had three other teams interested in him …he wouldn’t be coming here for less
Why do you guys get all twisted up on guessing salaries? It gets you nowhere because you'll never find out for sure what players are really being paid.
