LIVE GAME Round 21 versus Panthers

Live Game Discussion
Injured....

Seriously how some people remember their address is beyond me!

Doueihi was out of position all game because he was bludging!
A few days ago the NRL casualty section of their App had Bula due back in
Round 20 or 21 .This is Round 21
Today the same section lists only Samuela Fainu as a casualty and Bula not even listed ? So asking about his return is reasonable

Was that when he rolled the ball through his legs? I couldn't understand his selection. Sure Staines had a shocker last week but he wouldn't have two straight. Imo he was hard done by.
Yeah that's the one...
I am not saying it isn't dumb not to use your foot, it is... But if you watch most play the balls closely they are all very similar.... So if they are all similar, how does the ref blow one critical penalty early in the game for it to kick start momentum and field position for the Panthers, but then never again for the rest of the game.

I’m not the slightest bit emotional after that match but I’m pessimistic about the future.

A lot of talk seems to be about the playmakers and Douehi but the ongoing problem is constantly losing the collision game after game after game.

There is just no upside in a pack made up of Shaolin wooden man Twal, Seyfarth, 2025 version of Jack Bird, Sukkar and Douehi.

You might jag a win once a month if the opposition doesn’t turn up, or plays about as bad as possible or everything goes our way. It’s not like they can now, or at any point in the future turn it around in a sustained manner. They are just so inferior and lacking in physicality that they will never collectively lead us to a good season together. They can’t do that based on their inferior physical abilities.

We have some high quality players, certainly several more than in the last few years. But if you’re losing the ruck constantly the best you can do is try to hang on with your fingernails. Sometimes, rarely, you get a win.

Until the pack gets addressed, there’s no chance of long term sustained success. If you’re second rowers can’t run the 100m in under 15 seconds, or you’re spending your gas making 30m in a set, it doesn’t give the playmakers anything to work with.

Turning the ball in to Twal, or hitting Seyfarth or Bird or Sukkar isn’t troubling any semi-functional defensive systems.

Sadly, the club continually recruits these kinds of players and signs them up to long term deals. Sigh.

Respect to Izaac as his WT video gave me the feels massivelly, but he looked a little off the pace tonight. I would almost say Staines has been better in the last month (maybe not last week) getting us going forward with hit ups. Okay as a depth winger when we have a few out only.

Out muscelled like men against boys
Stop picking weak skinny forwards
We can't even get to halfway in a set
Getting worse Benji
Every kick is long and no threat
Even restarts we kick long
No more Sukkar and Bird please
Panthers have an average age of around 24, same as Tigers.

What game were you watching?

WT were lucky to have 2 tackles in Penrith territory early in the game. The grind had already begun. It was just a matter of time before the flood gates opened.
To be fair, I thought that we had gotten to parity and then momentarily better in the 8 or so minutes prior to that stupid play the ball. It probably didn't change the result, but it certainly changed the match by giving them great field position.

Probably the best post I have read on here. Our forwards get belted. Our back row (Twal/Sukkar/Seyfarth/Bird) would NOT threaten a reserve grade outfit. Taylan May and Bula are probably our only threatening running options.

Nah, we were losing the ruck for sure, from the the first few sets and our line speed was inferior.

Since 2014 Tucker it's 4 one out hit ups and a bomb. We throw the ball just for the sake of throwing the ball with nothing happening. There's no direction.
If we're going to go one out I get it cause our forwards are smaller and should be more mobile so we should be able to get speed through the ruck but no. We're slower than a bus.
I thought that was lame in under 14s in 1981. A coach should innovate. Do something unexpected. Change the game, change the dynamic. Exploit weaknesses and orthodoxy. At least try and do what the successful clubs do.

Points weren't conceded, but Penrith were already in control. That's how they play, they suffocate and pressure opposition teams into making errors. A 'roll ball' is a shit one no doubt, but they are then able to capitalise on the opportunity like all the good teams do. WT rarely do. They'll give up the opportunity with an error of their own, or no plan re how to score.
I don't disagree with you...

I am just sick and tired of the tigers copping these bullsh1t calls that often set the momentum and territory for the opposition... It happens all the freaking time...where are our piggy back restarts on 4th tackle?

We played as well as the Panthers allowed us to play. We competed well until our wingers made those crucial errors which the Panthers took full advantage of.
I can cop the Skelton one, as he shouldn't have been put in the position in the first place. Their opposites were numbered up in defence and already in their faces, so Latu should have taken the hit-up on that one, as the shift wasn't on.

Okay - but the Tuesday team announcement supercedes the original return date,

Due back next week - not on the outer or overlooked.

forwards run with no purpose, half hearted runs destroy any following plays, we have no halfback, our million dollar man runs and kicks like a headless chook.
Agreed. They are also one out, with no support,, and they run as if they e expect to get tackled, rather than as if they hope to break the tackle.. no enthbiusasm . Just so bland and predictable…its not hard to tun in pairs ffs ..local a grade teams do it, but we cannot for some reason… Toa needs a break

Everything that has kept us the bottom of the pile over the past few years is still a major problem.
1 terrible line speed
2 terrible kick chase
3 lack of speed
4 average forward pack
5 zero x factor

Sadly nothing will change next year with basically on KPP joining our ranks. It will be the same old same old. At least the Titians have speed and flair…we are plodders
