Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Australia is going downhill. This is not a Lib/Labor thing...Howard left the country with money in the bank in 2007 and in 18 years both parties have accumulated nearly a trillion dollars in debt. They reckon 50% of the country relies on tax money for payments so that starts at government workers down to welfare recipients. Totally unsustainable. Add the government overreach into our lives, high taxes and basically giving up all privacy and I don't hold out much hope. Apologies for the rant.
I’m a swing voter with more lib votes. Now I say that to help you hear this and consider.

Howard increased govt spending (especially structural spending) more than all govts on either side of him. He just got lucky that there was an income (tax receipts) boom.

Govts don’t control receipt booms (income). They DO control spending.

Howard is already remembered as an incredibly talented politician but he is 100% not remembered as being a key player in our successful economic policy

This topic totally deserves and warrants its own thread.

Bronson Harrison is head of pathways now.

Shannon Gallant is doing the recruitment thing full time whereas before he was doing both roles.

Adel Hage has connections at the club and used to work there, and it came out of his mouth.

Others on here who are closer to the action seem to verify the same info.

Do your own research though and come back if you have anything to the contrary. It's an interesting topic.

Lots doubted that our funding and revenue was the lowest in the league, but I dug it up and showed the receipts. The point isn't about how many recruitment officers we have by any sort of choice. It's the end result of being underfunded in all areas to the point we bring in the lowest revenue in the league and the owners throw a few pennies at us in comparison to other clubs.
When you looked into it how big was the difference in funding, was it only a bit of a difference or are other teams just in another league.

Luckily AI is coming soon taking all the jobs …. Everyone will just be able to put their feet up then right ? I’m sure that’s how it will work !

We have some company in terms of revenue, but we are dead last. I'm unsure what those other clubs get from their leagues clubs. Bulldogs are about mid and they generate about 19.5 million. We are on around 13.5 million. So I'm even comparing to middle of the road we are about 6 mill behind.

The Dogs leagues club tops them up another 7 mill. We get 1.8 mill from HBG as a grant. We are miles behind. All up we operate on about half of what the dogs do.

Here's the detail.

Howard left in 2007 replaced by Rudd. We were in the black. I didn't sit there and talk about anything to do with why...just what it was. The point is we went from being in the black to being deeply in the red in an incredibly short period of time.

Both sides have been in power and both sides are at fault. The point is they don't respect our money.

You don't get it at all.

John Howard gave us 700K houses when at the start they were 200k.
Your Government debt is charged at Super LOW interest rates. 2% or less.
Your Private debt is charged at far FAR higher interest rates. 5% or more.

He shifted the debt, the loan from low to high interest, from gov to YOU and ME.

I'm gutted that we missed out on getting Asu Kepaoa back. Big miss from the club there. Richo has a lot to answer for.
Why?

Seriously..
Look Asu (Please never call him AJ, that confused the crap out of me) has some dynamic play to him..
He was also one of the most on again/off again players to take the field. His defense was poor and so many games we would look to him putting in and he just wouldn't.

This sounds harsh, but we need to let the "Spoon" players go. Particularly those that left us. Getting the spoon brings a certain cultural defeat with it.
