Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Your question perked my interest so I did a bit of digging and this is what I found. The sources are from all over the shop so it may not be comparing apples with apples, but if you look at what they generate and what's contibuted it is significantly more that our staff are playing with so we are definitely doing it on the skinny.
ClubEst. Revenue (2024)OwnerReported investment in NRL spend
Warriors~A$11.6 MAutex Industries (Mark Robinson)Club earns approx 11.6M in revenue. I could find not information on how this is invested.
No info on owner donations
Manly Sea Eagles~A$11.5 MScott Penn (100% owner)Club earns approx $11.5M but I could find no information on how this is invested. Peen is reported to have invested an addtional $6.6 M since 2006 ($2.6M as a personal donation)
Canberra Raiders~A$25.9 M (franchise); league club ~A$92 MCanberra District RL Football Club$5 M+ via league‑club profits
Canberra Raiders is a not for profit so this is the spend on top of the NRL grant.
Cronulla Sharks~A$19.5–22 MCronulla‑Sutherland District RLFC$5M on top of a $2.74M football department profit in 2024. The Sharks are not run as a Not for Profit organisation. but the Leagues Club is. There is potential for funding to increase once new Leagues Club is complete ($30M investment)
Wests Tigers~A$67.8 M* (non‑grant income)Holman Barnes Group (via Wests Ashfield Leagues Clubs)1.8M (2024) Wests Tigers is a not for profit so this is the spend on top of the NRL grant.

You do more work than our board for us. I'm trusting you understand how life works. You make cents. But no dollars.

Huge AD fan but let’s be real he stifles the attack 50% of the time, has blown knees and his defence is piss weak for such a big bloke. I’d like to see him work at lock for us but are we just trying to find a spot for him? At centre we’d be better off with May, at half we are better off with Luai….maybe lock is the same and we just haven’t found that replacement yet. Happy to see him Stay but not if it costs us 500k plus for multiple years

Another guy. All the effort. But no pay day.

I would like to see us go after Cherry Evans for 1 year with a further 1-year option. We can't insinuate a possible coaching position like the Roosters because we will get fined. Just ask Robbie Farah and our former CEO.
Fainu could learn off one of the best as he is not quite ready for the top grade. We would also have a reliable goal kicker. Ahhhh am I dreaming.

We'll be footing the bill for this one sadly 😅
Yep to much of it. Why this club continually gets themselves in thus situation. . I don't get how Bennett is happy to play Bud and we go sign Madden and pay 80% of Buds wage. At his age and with good coaching he has the potential to be much better than Madden. Am I the only one thst doesn't get it.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Not for profit simply means the profits are for some public benefit or used to grow the organisation for its stated public benefit. In our case they donate to sports teams. They cannot distribute dividends to the owners for example. A Pty Ltd can be a non profit. They just need to register as a NFP.
Got you, I thought an pty Ltd couldn't also operate as a not for profit. Told you this business stuff goes over my head.

Thats fine but my point is we are so far behind on all other revenue streams compared to most teams - our membership revenue is a disgrace compared to all teams, sponsorship well below most, game day from corporates is woeful. These are all revenue areas that Wests Tigers control - not HBG

Yes. But if your marketing or sponsorship department is running on fumes because you can't afford the wages, how do you address it? The owners need to pump up their contribution a bit.
