OFFICIAL Lachlan Galvin #277 *Released* Career Discussion.

He will. Galvin is a good player and probably did himself a strategic favour yesterday in tough conditions. He basically did nothing so no one can actually bag him for making any mistakes. He didn't put himself in any position to really cop it from WTs players during the game either. Good outcome for all involved IMO.
Not sure if serious

This weekend could be quite depressing. Fully expecting a bulldogs drubbing and Galvin to score a try somewhere then the media lauds him for making the best decision etc. etc. etc.

The worst part is this is the first game I can watch since coming back from overseas. Really gonna need a bye round to recover. 😭 😭 😭
Mate I hope you really enjoyed your 1st game back

It's crazy how important a good kicking game is.

Even if it's not a kicking game, just having someone in your team who can smash the crap out of the ball.

Galvin, like Luai is a very poor timer of the ball for long kicks. It'll hold them both back.
Doueihi hits them well. Can get them to the 10m and with good height allowing our chasers to be on top of the catcher.

I will give credit to Galvout that he wasn't petulant or sulky after the match, he stayed on field to chat to the Tigers boys and seemed a gracious loser. They had him on camera seeking out Luai for a chat.

Don't get me wrong, I was hoping he'd do his ACL, but I can recognise good sportsmanship and I can recognise that the build up to this week could have been difficult for a young player.

I hope for everyone's sake the media can stop making Galvout the centre of attention of every story, because neither his form nor his career to date warrant the kind of attention he's been receiving. I'm personally hopeful that a continuing decline in Bulldogs form coincides with people not paying much attention to what Lachy is doing all the time.

I actually think the bulldogs form will continue to decline with the media continuing to focus on Galvin and ignore his mediocre performances whilst lauding a simple cut out ball as the pass of the century. The dogs players are obviously seeing this kid take all the attention and little in the way of blame, whilst they are left with nothing after busting a gut to make it to the top of the ladder on a game that is all effort and limited skill. This must really grate on them and not just Sexton but the whole team.

I think someone mentioned in here last night's channel 9 news headline

Lachan Galvins Bulldog's lose to West Tigers

You have to cut the kid a break. It was wet. How can you expect him to play in those conditions? It's too much to ask. I don't know why his father didn't pull him off the field. It's a disgrace that poor Lachie was allowed to get his top muddy. I expect Galvin Sr to walk straight into Gus's office tomorrow for a please explain.
Judging by the condition of the ground yesterday they will need to call in Galvin Senior the green keeper to carry out some emergency remedial work.

It's interesting that in the presser Benji said he started Doueihi in the halves because he thought we needed the experience. And not in the way I expected; I thought he meant the conditions and the style of play of the opponent, but instead he said he wasn't happy with our output for the past few weeks so he shuffled up the halves to add some more experience to steer the team around. Was a masterstroke in the end and in the conditions.

And coach still makes the point in public - we think Latu is our long-term option, but also he can keep contributing, learning, getting to better fitness.

Whereas Bulldogs drop Sexton for Galvin and he does SFA in difficult conditions. Burton was fairly ordinary and rattled as well.

I keep hearing what a good coach Ciraldo is or will be, but he appears to regularly get his halves rotation wrong. The Bulldogs appear to have recruited for an issue they didn't have - they had Sexton and Burton fairly well established and confident, with Mitchell Woods on the horizon, Mahoney being a grub at hooker and Haywood on the bench. In desperation to acquire the shiny new toy, they are now offloading Sexton and Mahoney and messing up their halves combo.

The Bulldogs are currently built on a platform of effort and discipline - line speed, low error count, high effort goal-line defence, many players into the tackle, workman-like progression then giving ball to some top-threat attackers (Crichton, Kikau, Preston, Kiraz). Dogs have a lot of fairly average players like Curran, Womann, Minimum King, Weak Gutted Dog, Tracey who are OK when performing consistently to their ability, but are not game-changers and not especially athletic. Galvout is all about off-cuff play; he's best with broken defences, kick chase, backing up a break, sneaky blind-sides, varied angles of play. Many touches and lots of probing. At Tigers he was happy to take a lot of runs whereas at Bulldogs he seems to hand off a lot. Dogs have never really played in a style that would suit Galvout, and it appears to me that in an effort to lean into his off-cuff play, it's simultaneously hurt their overall discipline.

Coach Ciraldo also played both Hayward and Kurt Womann off the bench yesterday, which proved to be too small a bench when your only recognised sub forwards are then Curran and Harry Highpants.

He refused to get tackled so we could boo him louder . It was really frustrating lol. Also anyone notice that he is actually very slow. The half break he made , there was no speed at all.

What Bulldogs really need is a better fullback, though Connor Tracey is commendable, he has a very clear and significant ceiling. Better fullback and more punch in their forwards, because they are starting to get found out by teams willing to play tough when their starting pack includes Hughes, Minimum King and The Weak Gutted Dog.
It's interesting to me that some of the criticism that's been aimed at Benji no one is criticising Ciraldo for making similar sorts of decisions

Really can’t remember Galvin taking the line on yesterday, when he was with us he would go deep into the line , think he was worried he might get smashed , the poor little pedal , OH by the way NO we don’t want u back , now go home and cry in ur dads arms .
