Khod Hand Investigation

Meanwhile Kiraz gets off with no warning or fine, performed the same action on the same field on the same day.
He didn't do it to fans though, apparently he did it to Doueihi.

This is a big nothingburger, the NRL has to be seen to doing something if players are making potentially rude gestures to fans. The NRL have given Tigers a limp slap on the wrist, which is what we all expected.

All tallied it actually makes the Bulldogs look all the more pathetic complaining about such nothings after being comprehensively outplayed by a vastly lower team. NRL have now taken action, it's borderline meaningless action, and what we are left with instead is Bulldogs losing credibility for what might be another season that peters out badly despite good early form.

Yeah I get the implications re fans... But does it mean that players can give each other the rude finger moving forward without punishment? The NRL are saying that it's ok?

I'm not nit picking, but the NRL either draw a line in the same or they don't.. you can either do it or you can't... If Samuela went out next weekend vs manly and gave a manly player the middle finger, he'd be in the news again and no doubt get a warning or fine from the NRL, whilst no one says sh1t about Kiraz..

leave it be, let that be the problem of the NRL - we have been given a warning and that should be it from our side - whatever happens to other teams shouldn't be our concern unless it directly affects us negatively, maybe Kiraz will be given a warning as well (a quiet one) but really we shouldn't care anymore what happens to him

With cameras everywhere, players aren't intentionally going out to do these things on camera. I'd leave it alone.

Our team directed it at fans...knowingly on camera boradcast to millions...and while I totally get why they wanted to shove it right up the Bulldogs fans and it must have felt seriously good at the time, it wasn't a classy representation of our team and took the gloss off the win slightly.

Players are employed by the club and have behavioural standards in the uniform...like any company. They also have a duty to the game. They need to be a bit more professional.

We ended up looking like a bunch of chavs. We set ourselves up for the exact same treatment when we lose a game...and we will...fans are going to stick it right up us and ridicule us.

I have zero idea about what a "chav" is but i assume it is derogitory and i agree we will certainly cop it from dogs fans when we lose to them, however the general opinion from most other club supporters seems to be one of support because the dogs are held in very low esteem by other fans due to the actions of a small but very vocal/deranged section of their fans giving all of their fans an undeserved bad name.

A chav is a British term, usually used in a pejorative way. The term is used to describe an anti-social lower-class youth dressed in sportswear.

We don't need to stoop to those levels. No will be offended if we carry ourselves with more class.

It just gave that stupid hand signal more media attention....now you're going to see it everywhere. Great...can't wait for that.

So... you wanna stop what Romey did to Galvout after a beautiful fend in the moosh...dropping his bodyweight nicely on his chest and then giving him an almighty spray?
Where does it end?
Between players is fine...fans not so...just waiting for some petal to be offended by a player shooshing them

Can you imagine if Galvin did something like that to our supporters, say he flipped the bird. Can you imagine the tone of the thread? It wouldn’t be a nothing burger.

No.

Personally, I'd allow it all, even banter toward fans...

If you're a fan and want to give an opposition player the bird, call someone a cnt, say their mum is fat... Then you should expect to cop it back.. it's a false sense of security to think fans can simply get away with whatever they want without repercussion...

I recall sitting at leichardt last year vs manly when hamole was binned, he was pointing at ppl in the stand whilst walking off.. i loved it.. should have scared the sh1t out of whoever he was pointing at, I wouldn't want him remembering my face 😂😂

I am just raising the point that the NRL have allowed "the khod" to be performed by a player against another player... So is it now acceptable?

organizations in general should gracefully cop a khod and stay out of trying to rewrite the 10 commandments. Stop preaching to the robots on how to behave in their leisure time

I remember many years ago giving Greg Dowling a mouthful or 2 at Leichhardt Oval from my spot near the Easterern sideline his response was to look at me and give me some back as he packed into the scrum laughing his head off.I was not in the slightest offended because i knew i deserved it.

The great dish-head Dowling!!
Better times.

The best thing to come out of all this is i actually have a name for the hand gesture all my Lebbo friends and workmates that khoded me over the years 🤣 funnily enough it was always in jest sometimes and actual greeting. So the boys could have been saying hey how you doing.

I understand it's a storm in a tea cup, but surely everyone agrees it was stupid.

They clearly meant it as an up yours - middle finger equivalent. So if they were to raise their middle fingers to the crowd when they're celebrating, is that OK?

It's immature and completely unprofessional.

Wouldn't see Melbourne doing it.

Young squad. A few of them need to grow up quick to get us up there.

Credit where credit is due, Chammas has been very supportive of the Tigers players this week and has really helped in highlighting how ridiculous the whole situation is and how hypocritical the dogs fans are.

We call out the media all the time for their obsession with the Tigers and constant media bashing.
You may not like him, but Chammas deserves a wrap for his reporting of late.

Even though he may criticise us a lot (most the time fairly so), you have to admire the way he has stood up and called out some of the most powerful and influential people in the game this year. I have not seen a single other jurno have the balls to call out both Gus AND Isaac Moses. Especially when you consider Gus is a colleague. Seems to be the only jurno that has integrity in his reporting and isn't a kiss ass.
Fair and thoughtful post CC 👍

Not surprised the nrl only look at this from the extreme derogatory angle when its been pointed out numerous times it can also be light hearted and not offensive.

I think this will put the spotlight on dog fans even more they better watch themselves

Hope Pus Gould enjoys our warnings (petty old sook)...we'll enjoy the win and 2 points bahahah
I'm really pleased you mentioned... "it can also be lighthearted and not offensive"... as it gives me the opportunity to mention I had a post deleted, and I was suspended for the use of the word "twerp" that someone thought was apparently "extreme derogatory" rather than "lighthearted and not offensive".
And in my case, there was absolutely nothing in the wording of the post that could suggest I was using it to put someone down.
Try to make sense of that, ink.
