i love the passion Terrell plays with and without a doubt we hardly have a win this season with out him. But is it just me or would others like him, Twal, Pole and others to just tuck the ball safely under their arms and run hard and damn straight. nothing worse then seeing these guys running sideways particularly early in the tackle count;. Twal should be made to do 100 push ups on thje spot every time he does it because it really does let the defense have a break.

Penrith at their best and even the Broncos the year they played them in the GF both scored a high percentage of tries following an offload. Luai is one of the best second phase players in the game, it makes sense to try to put him in these spots as much as possible.

Bro, bless you Terrell May. You’ve led this 2025 Tigers club out of a very dark place that we have been stuck in for a very long time. You have brought light and hope to tens of thousands of tigers faithful that have been hurting week in and week out for way over a decade. Regardless of what happens from here 2025 has been a very successful season in so many ways. I think you guys can play finals this year. Thank you for bringing us back from the dead

It's interesting how open they are about their approach to training, and not really loving the game.

Bit concerning for Taylan to say if Terrell played the way he trained, or approached games the same way as training, he'd never get a game. I'm a firm believer in that standard are set at training.

Obviously both playing well, but I also wonder if the hunger to win is constantly there if you don't love the game.

Could go both ways I guess - playing care free and not being in there heads too much might be sustainable for them.

I work with amateur sporting teams and the amount of time I hear from young players "he can do whatever he wants, he played X grade for 2 years". It can be a slippery slope.

they did also say their expectation of themselves is minimum top 8, they want top 4. not just to improve.

I covered off a little bit of this in the Deep Dive earlier today. I have also mentioned it several times before as well, but the key to playing ad lib play is to do it within structure. We just aren't quite there yet.

Even though we look a little bit like chooks with our heads cut off at the moment the key for us is to identify the cues that enable us to shift in and out of structure.

For example a TDM touch footy moment that results in a quick PTB 10-15m out could enable Api to dummy open then shift a quick ball to Latu on the short side to show and go/hit a runner/open a hole(X/Y) or kick in behind. The cue being the TDM quick play the ball.

The other thing we see May do so often is the late pass back to Api - if Terrell May’s offload is the cue/platform is could run something like: TDM ruck contact → fast tip-on/offload → Api with Luai arriving off Api’s hip ........ this same cue should have Bula and Talyn May in the hunt for the ball as a support player and Sam F running a line at the inside shoulder of the opposition centre. Luai then knows where he can hit once he makes a decision.

If this can evolve in through the rest of 25 and into 2026 we will disrupt a lot of top line defences as they play in structure agaisnt structure.

I like where Benji is taking our attack and with more time and a little more structure oue ad lib cues may be what gets is back in the hunt for a permiership. Not that I haven't given up hope in 2025 just yet! 🤣 🤣 🤣

great analysis thanks Jolls, i also think we did it a tad more than we usually do because it was the game plan to keep moving the manly’s bigger less agile forward pack around to tire them out. we kept dropping back under so it tells me most of it was on purpose
