Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Seyfarth in my opinion should be in the 17. Name me another forward we have that you wouldn't want to run at?
May no.
Pole no.
Sam no.
Kpp no.
Sione no.
Twal no.
Seyfarth is the only one that shows mongrel, gets it wrong granted but I'm not running at him

wot.

😂

Alex would be the first one I'd pick to run at. His first up contact is soft.

Samuela appears to hit hardest in the pack currently. Twal and Sione this season are next, though Sione will sometimes drop off after initial contact.

That’s correct and why you pay the big money to players who are supposed to come up with big plays to win you games and pay far less to the other squad players who simply fill a role which generally involves bringing energy and a good work rate.
We have a lot of people on this forum who struggle to understand this.
For those who are still in denial, have a look at each NRL team list for this weekend and ask yourself the question, would all 4 bench players be walk up starts in our best 17 for 2026 ?
As I’ve already stated, but for the slow learners I will state it again, there are only 3-4 team lists at most for this weekend where you could confidently say all 4 bench players could individually be included on our best 17 as of season 2026 and be a clear upgrade on what we already have.
We are playing under a salary cap, it does not allow you to have 4 superstars on the bench,
I’ve already told you who my 4 bench players are Week 1 next year …he isn’t there..

Seyfarth gets dominated on both sides of the ball too often for my liking

Lotta crazy talk going around this week…Im putting it down to the excitement of Maka’s debut 😎

Ok replace him with Ben Taity or Joe Chan, that will make us a much better team 🙄
You along with a few others keep harping on about recruiting better quality middles, but have no idea who that player is or where they are coming from.
NEWS FLASH - There is currently a big shortage on high quality middles, there are plenty of NRL teams looking for one or two of them, not just us.

What are you talking about about ?

I see the edit now …

I predict they will sign another middle this offseason…even with this “massive shortage “..

WTF are you talking about about ?
You are starting to irritate me with your idiotic posts.
Open your eyes and look at each NRL teams list.
Most, in fact almost all of them have at least one bench player that is a lesser player than Alex Seyfarth.
Low cost 20mins per game bench players DO NOT determine if you win or lose a game in any case.
How hard is it to understand this ?

Like a lot of people here ..you confuse your opinion as facts …I also don’t think you do yourself any favours to refer to my differing opinion as “idiotic” …

I can tell you plenty of people here and elsewhere in the Rugby League media view Seyfarth as a lesser player than you do …

You are also going off on some different tangent about “other teams bench” which I have never commented on and is irrelevant to our team and Seyfarth’s place in it ..

We have not made the top 8 for 15 years and although this season showed a bit of improvement, we still did not make the top 8, so essentially it’s another year of failure.
Sorry to pick on you as you are only one of many who share the opinion that our bench players are the ones losing us all our games and causing us to miss the top 8 on a regular basis, but it’s an opinion that is so wrong it’s not funny.
Yes we could have a better bench and yes we could and should have better depth within our playing roster, but it’s unrealistic to believe we are going gave 4 high quality players on our bench on a regular basis.
Alex Seyfarth is a more than solid NRL level bench player, better than what most rival clubs have and is not the problem why we cannot make the top 8.
Yes he started many games this season in the back row and yes he didn’t add much value as a starting player, but take into consideration he is not being paid in accordance to a regular starting player, like Alex Twal he is not selected to be a match winner and he is clearly better suited when playing in the middle off the bench where he brings good energy and a good work rate when plenty of team mates are tiring around him.
That’s how he’s best suited and I’m near certain Benji agrees.
If we are not confident of making the top 8 or better next season, don’t blame our likely bench, blame players within our projected starting line up.

Actually it's a good point he makes. If you shit on Seyfarth you're implying he wouldn't make the 17 of any other team when he would. He is too good for Cup imho.

f
That

Galvins superpower was being TBH triathlete fit , breaking the nrl bronco record twice .
Once teams adjusted to the fact he could be trying to put a short ball into his winger on the left one tackle and being the sweeping player Ont he block the next play down the right to be back down the left running the third play , so next level fitness, I think they’ve realised he’s not that deceptive and tricky , but rather like others have said , just a continuous bombardment of pressure . I honestly don’t think that’s sustainable as he build muscle mass , and injuries and Father Time start to play a factor as he gets older . So this IMO is the peak of that . Whether the drop off is gradual or a cliff , depending on how the dogs strength and conditioning handle him , is kind of irrelevant . I don’t think he’s anywhere near the generational talent , people made him out to be . That’s not sour grapes . I had been singing from the same song sheet since march last year. .His playing style seems unsustainable .

Agreed because you never know hoe good or poor a player is until they have faced the constant grind of FG football.A player can look like an future immortal in juniors and lower grades but fail to reach what is required in the NRL,it is a very tough gig which most talented players fail.

Fair point TS. It's just the whole 'rob Peter to pay Paul' scenario. Yes AD would be the ideal depth right centre if To'a is injured but what happens if he's killing it at lock or half next season. I guess another unknown is whether Benji feels Makasini, Turuva, Bird or even Skelton are options at right centre.

Good teams have at least 2 NRL quality outside backs for each position (wing, centre, left & right) so if, touch wood it doesn't happen, say 2 of our first choice OBs are out for an extended period, we don't lose much.

Here's hoping Max Taotua & Tino Turuva take a giant leap forward next season too to throw themselves into the equation.
We also Krystian Mapapalangi as a centre that is showing some promise of coming up.

I also can see Benji using Solomone Saukuru (185cm tall and weighing 115kgs) as an extra back rower next season .. he some size on him and with the speed for his size he will be handful up the middle. They have already been experimenting with him the backrow in the lower grade with success.
