Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Thought Talakai played tough in the middle tonight would love to add him and Ray stone to our pack, hard SOB’s.
Considering the likes of Mooney and Moale have been snapped up (presumably for overs) I don’t think we will be signing a big name front rower unless one falls into our lap.
Here’s to hoping Kit and our other young forwards take the next step up as we are relying heavily on their development.

Some of the names being mentioned as possible recruits don't fill me with confidence. Fortunately Richardson, Marshall and Gallant are doing the recruiting.😁
I think and the names I have thrown up are only due to cap space , if Richo come out and said we are in the hunt for xyz and got the cash the names would change Mooney and the dude from south’s would come straight baa k as possibles but I think Richo knows they are out of reach amounts so he says no more Recruites , we have the team which we don’t , and he is just sweating on something or is doing his home work with managers asking who under contract may like a move, in these positions etc Tyron Smith eg at concord if correct could be an idea of a visit with a name that does fit our opening and small wallet , out team this year was border line top8 Newcastle round 1 and out last 2 losses were the real reason we didn’t get there plus other games but we were close , we need a good half and AD in there full time for me will help I’m not convinced yet Fanu in. The answer yet

That’s probably because there’s not much on the shelf to pick from.
Hopefully those three are privy to going’s on that we are not, and can pry loose a gem.

Richo made a few stupid recruitment and retention calls this year.
Yea I recall around AFB "no we will develop our juniors". or similar that we had strong Juniors.
Ofcourse we did not.

Totallly wrong call considering that he was an elite prop.

That said, it was his first month at the club and he couldn't have assessed our juniors properly. Still AFB.

I am not having a go at you. I have confidence Richardson has been on this ride many times and we will come up with signings which improve our roster and onfield performance.

A lot actually. He’s had a poor year in this area.
not going to blame him for the Galvin mess.

Kicking Klemmer when Bateman/Papalii/Stefano have left, yea that was a blunder and a blunder that would have looked a stack worse if Terrell May wasn't so awesome.

I was ready to punt AD, but resigning AD on 350k I thought was a good deal for us.

Jock Madden on 350k ?? Is that a blunder, considering the Titans are looking to pinch Jackson Hastings from Newcastle..

I think Madden will be good for WTs

It's an interesting question.

Jock has some kicking game in him, and if AD gets injured we may need a kicker.

He is still reserve grade stock and I suspect not many other clubs will have been knocking his door down. Although the Titans may be wanting him as their halfback now.

Think it was 800k, still he wasn't worth that at the time, long way from it.
Yeah - Possible Bud.
I knew it was close to 1 million, To be fair - I don't think AFB is worth that either...
He's too tired off the ball for me.

Either way, Richo says lots of things.
If you listen closely, holes appear often enough.
I still hope he's on the right path, I don't think we're any worse off.
Still wary, Hope hasn't converted to Blind Faith - just yet.

Yes, he tried hard but I thought Sharks 2nd half game plan was horrible. Basically 5 and kick, yet when they moved the ball earlier they looked good. Thought they sort of played to try and not lose instead of playing to win- big difference. Hynes disappointing.
They had a good season unfortunately spoilt by tonight.
Should have gone down swinging.
Ps. Got to make mention of Stef, improving now every week.
And Bellamy, coached 22 finals teams in 23 years including 11 grand finals. WOW !
Stef showed some mongrel and a couple of good off loads.
Much improved than the pillow performances with us.

I thought the pod with May and Benji towards the end about the younger players going forward gives you a feeling of optimism.

Still, we have all fallen for that before, but what can we do we are diehard tiger's supporters forever.

Oddly I think Stefano & Papali'i this year prove that the Tigers are getting something right.

And it's because both players had good seasons away from the club.

Let's start with both the players. No way Cleary & Bellamy taught them anything 'new'. "Be more involved & committed" isn't something you teach. It's something you buy into. It's, dare I say it, a club culture. What, if anything, it shows me is that Stefano & Papali'i are not 'leaders' as they were expected to be at the Tigers. They don't drive the standards. They follow the standards set by others. They are good players, playing in good teams, and doing well.

So why does this show me that the Tigers are doing the right thing?

Because the whole drive from Richardson & Marshall is about bringing in leadership, setting standards & having players that want to be here. How many times have we heard about Luai & building a club culture? How many times do we hear how Benji is building a culture of 'family first values' etc?

There was definitely some improvement in 2025. I would say that with Api, Luai & a few others that we are building a club culture. Now it's about having the right players, with the right attitudes, in the club.

Stefano & Papali'i have shown that talented players who need to be driven & caught up in a team culture can actually thrive. Not every player succeeds because you count on them being 'leaders'. I think the Tigers figured it out & actually invested in culture defining players. Now it's getting the rest of the squad mix right.

I'll sit down now.
