Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

At his best, he was absolutely brilliant with the ball in hand. He could do things no-one else could (or would). He was not brilliant on the other side of the ball, however. But then again, nor was Thurston who was at times little more than a speed bump. To me, the fact that he is even mentioned as being one of the greats, is a testament to his ability. Whether one agrees or not, the game was better for his involvement.

Laurie Daley had Rick Stuart as his halfback, Bradley Clyde as his lock, Mal Meninga as his centre, Know imaging what damage Benji could have done with those players.
Those players wouldn’t have made him a better defender, decision maker or leader and that’s what his faults were.
From a purely attacking point of view, maybe not a lot changes. He created the vast majority of his own opportunities.

I don't believe it did. I understand the argument, we were 3 from 6 when Galvin hit the news, which was obviously better than the seasons winning percentage.
But, we still won 2 from 5 during the ordeal. That would suggest they did have the ability to push the rubbish to the side and play on.
I think limited depth derailed the season as players lost form, with no-one capable to replace them. Hunt, Pole and Toa the obvious offenders (perhaps due to injury).
Could argue the Galvin stuff played a role given we had games with Mason at 6 but Doueihi was available in those games. That is poor team selections more than anything else.
I think the season followed the typical path of the players interest levels fell off when the finals hopes started slipping. This was about the same time that Galvin left the club but Id say the timing is coincidental. It's been the same the last few years for us and common for most struggling clubs most years.
your last paragraph , is what's its about. Its a young side , if the Bro hood sticks together, their is a lot 2 achieve.
