Fishing Thread

Watched heaps of Japanese fishing videos while here. More jewfish here than you would imagine.
Never caught a good one myself so was looking for any information that would help.
That nor easterly is a sob atm . Worst weather for fishing I've ever experienced this year.
Sorry mate just took the new car for a spin down to Budgewoi and back to Caves.

Yeah the F N Easter is the scourge of summer around here trying to find a spot that yields some more bream this summer getting harder to find a feed of them now.

Having to buy some, a man of my calibre is so wrrr, wrrr, maybe this guy can say it for me.

All good mate. Hope the car went well.
I refuse to buy fish 99 times out of a 100. Look like they've been dead forever usually. When we lived in Brisbane I asked fish shop why everything was so bad. His response was all people care about is there's no bones.
Having said that I always drop in at Balline to see if they have tuna belly. Cheap as because noone eats it.

Lol what's that old cricketing term that can relate to when not to buy, an eye like a stinking fish ring a bell.

Anyone have tips on fishing in Mort Bay?
Looks like there's some good structure for bream there around the wharves n pontoons depending on what time of the year they are around down there. Cooked prawns or mullet strips. Probably other good fish in there too but never fished there.

If it yields bream, try what I use chicken breast cut into strips soaked in tuna and aniseed oil for a day and to improve results even more take a small bucket of wet sand blended with breadcrumbs and aniseed essence or oil.

If you can, fish with a pea sized sinker down to the hook on a fluro carbon 10lb leader about a metre long up to a swivel.

Thanks Steve, I've been using chicken thigh, but I haven't tried soaking it in tuna and aniseed oil

Purchased Ugly fish sunglasses with bifocals. Heads up - don't. Bifocals are unusable unless you have Exorcist -like flexibility.
Ya joking Mikey?
I have had a pair for a few years now and will be whoa new pair from Santa this year.
I got them one year for the Port Cup, @Halbrowne61, the year before I was R and R my sunnies with my readers all day to read the form or watch the race? So that morning I went into town early I stumbled upon Ugly Fish $140 with little reader panels at the bottom. They’re gold on site reading plans too, and driving. Without them I either can’t read the speedo or the street signs.
I’m a fan

If the undertow isn't strong use the set-up I explained the less weight the better, sometimes bream if finicky will feel the weight and let it go.
100 percent agree re light sinker and no swivel. Bream are pretty smart and can be very sensitive to weight on the line. They age relatively slowly - 30cm can take 10 years or more.
It's also important to let the bream take the line for a run. It's hard to explain how long that should be but over time you can just tell when it's in their mouth rather than them have a taste test.
