Jersey Talk - Mega Thread

So you don't like the one that doesn't exist?
Me either. That and the purple, marshmellow Prime Minister. I hate that one..
It does exist ( at least in concept)There was a photoshop of it on here . And I didn’t like it ….. there was literally half a dozen comments relating to it being far superior to the existing white and orange versions

Dont get the point of the collar opening at the front other than to make it easier to put on.
Usually theyre as tight as.possible to prevent defenders grabbing anything.
Those that have one already is there a button there...or velcro?
Hi Ink. No button or Velcro. My wife actually pointed that part out yesterday & said she had never noticed that on jerseys before. I have no idea why it is like that but has plenty of stitching around it so it seems sturdy. Just on the jersey selling out, they told me yesterday that they had removed some off the rack at the Roar store to pack for online orders. I know the playing shorts only had 2 pairs left. The staff said they had already ordered for a re- stock such is the demand.

I'm so encouraged by them selling so well.

I've banged on about the benefits of high jersey sales, and I'm really hopeful the intangible of the increased exposure of them (out and about) will really help the tigers brand grow.

Winning games helps too...

Finally having the jumper in the main Tiger colours would certainly have helped with sales,it stands out as a brand for our club which nobody else has (i have no issue with black or white as backup alternatives but a tiger is prominently orange/gold)

Orange is definitely what makes them unique, but (again) I think it has long been a case of appeasing Magpie stalwarts who could possibly get upset that not only are they called the tigers, but orange is also very Balmain.

I understand that. I'm just more concerned about the club doing well in all areas. And really, I think leveraging orange and a tiger is objectively more marketable than just black and white and a magpie.

Even so, I think a sort of homage white with only black stripes jersey could make for a cool type of heritage jersey.

I was a Balmain fan since the early 80's, and can honestly say that if they were black and white and called the magpies, I'd happily embrace a new colour and mascot if I thought they were better.

But it's a lot easier to see aspects of your old team being prominent in the new one.

It's understandable people would be upset seeing visual aspects of the team you've supported for 30 years before 2000 disappear.

Yes, I am staunch in what I hope is a vision of a single entity distanced from those of the two formation clubs, and don't agree with the cup team being basically old wests or the old club emblems on the WT jerseys.

But I do understand that's only my standpoint; I think the club is going to be in the position of trying not to alienate a section of it's fan base by stripping 100% of an old identity for some years to come.

👏👏👏 This is a pretty fair attempt at being un-biased TS, and there is very little of that expressed on here.

It's weirdly strange to me that the 90% owners of Wests Tigers can be nearly obliterated from the scene by the powers that be, Richo?

It's also baffling to me that the Mods in fairness, don't step in and stop the Magpie bashing on here.

But Spartan has said he wants free speech.
And as 90% of the posters on here are anything but positive about the Wests Magpies, the Magpie bashing will continue unabated.

I would be 100% with you if it was a stand alone Balmain jersey but we are a joint venture so I will respectfully disagree.

The white jersey can be seen as a tie to the Magpies. Balmain very rarely had white on their jersey maybe the numbers on their backs sometimes were white but that’s about it. The white jersey can ben seen as a tribute to the Magpies as well as the Wests Tigers given there is a species of a tiger that is white, unfortunately not many of them left though in the real world.
