💯 it’s science man . The saying “you can’t teach on old dog new tricks” … this is what it’s alluding to. At some point we all will lock up shop and whatever our core beliefs are , well that will be it . For some , it’s when they’re 30(good luck to you people , being stuck in your ways that young means misery for everyone around you) , but usually it’s 55 plus . You start retiring , you’re no longer in the workforce you spend your days reading about things and less about experiencing those things , so inevitably it happens . If you want innovative ideas you’re not looking to the nearest nursing home for inspiration . You’re looking to high school and university . And it’s not agism to say this . We all will put on our blinkers one day . It is what it is !

I posted something a while back in what Google Gemini thought potential breaches might be. Here is what it thinks NSW L&G could do based on current public information. This has not been edited

Based on the Registered Clubs Act 1976 and current events, here are the three main powers Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) can use to fix the dysfunction, from least to most severe:

1. The "Please Explain" (Inquiry)
What it is: They can launch a formal investigation under Section 52.

How it works: Inspectors seize emails and board minutes (e.g., about the jersey dispute) to see if decisions were made for "improper purposes" rather than the club's benefit.

Result: This gathers the evidence needed to fire the board.

2. Disciplinary Action (Show Cause)
What it is: If the inquiry finds "corrupt or improper" conduct, they issue a "Show Cause" notice under Section 57F.

How it works: The Holman Barnes Group must prove why they shouldn't be punished.

Result: The regulator can ban specific directors (like those behind the coup) from the industry for up to 3 years.

3. The Nuclear Option (Administration)
What it is: The power to sack the entire board and install an independent Administrator under Section 41A.

Trigger: The regulator declares the board has "ceased to be effective" because of the chaos.

Result: The Administrator takes total control, fires the current directors, fixes the governance, and eventually holds a new, clean election.

Current Status: L&GNSW is currently "monitoring" the situation. This is usually the step right before a formal Inquiry begins.

That is the issue . And the older you are , when you’re talking percentages of life the more likely your core allegiance is not to wests tigers . If you’re 75 and you’ve been following the same team since you were 5 , that means 2 thirds of your life you’ve been a magpies fan . So understandably that’s where your heart lies .
If you’re 40 , that means 55–60% of your life you’ve been a wests tigers fan. If you’re 50 it’s half your life .
Thats what the issue is. And if you want to claim agism as a thing , it’s not because you’re old . It’s because your age means your loyalty is elsewhere.
There’s millions of studies that dictate how and where and why and length of time it takes to form an allegiance .
We need people who are loyal to wests tigers and only wests tigers .

Why can't you undertstand that? I've said it about 10 times today. Age IS NOT the issue here, it's bad faith and you can have bad faith at 75 or 25. Can't say it clearer than that. If you disagree, please keep it to yourself because I'm to f..king tired to keep responding.

My point is that’s your feed . And Facebook , not to piss people off , is especially where the elderly community go for thier social media . As you click through as well the feed will curate the posts to the ones that get you to stay longer on the app. Usually negative interactions . So all the posts saying this is wrong … will get pushed down if not made outright invisible to see .. and anything that causes you to be upset or click will be in your feed .
That’s how the algorithm works . It’s why I prefer to go on here and not twitter or any Facebook owned platform . It’s all bots and algorithms, designed to rage bait you , so you stay on the platform .

Oh mate, you'd be the last bloke I'd be taking posting advice from. You've been responsible for some of the most non-sensical posts this forum has ever witnessed but people make allowances and tolerate you. I won't in future. One of the best pieces of advice I was ever given is "the standard you walk past is the standard you accept". I won't accept ageism in any form.

Seems crazy that 20 people who chipped in 100 bucks each can never be removed from power.

I think there is so much cronyism going on at HBG, that even if they did get rid of it, they'd find a way to wriggle back into power somehow.

The most direct way to solve this issue is the NRL threatening non-renewal unless the club is sold to new owners and ensure the board is majority member elected. Any paying member can stand for election if they wish.

Sadly that would mean the Rozelle site would be lost, but I'd be prepared to let that go in exchange for HBG removal.

There's a lot of old Wests fans who continue to bring up the 90% ownership and the HBG often do this as well, however I believe sporting clubs get to a point where they're metaphorically owned by their communuty of fans and you need to allow that community to have a say. That's a missing piece for us and people feel like they have to grin and bear the annual or bi-annual shit show these clowns create every year or two.

I'm well aware of how algorithms work on social media platforms. Do you nit bother with mainstream news outlets either? There's plenty on those, many have been shared in this thread. The fact that *here*, there is no-one gloating openly about Magpies potentially returning is rather similar to the algorithm theory you just stated.

Well like I said you are still open to change and haven’t locked up shop yet. The problem is that youre the exception not the rule . I literally explained this . If you want to make it about you and you alone thats fine . But I was speaking in generalities , and why the 50 years and under idea came from .
But you’re too far up your own arse to actually read what I’m saying . And it is a generality and if you’ve hit your mid 70s and managed to shift allegiances then good luck to you. Most haven’t and never will .
