The way I read it the recruitment was a shared effort between the both of them - they’ve both spoken about how they worked well together. We were making excellent strides too, before all this unnecessary rubbish.
I know several players have publicly backed Benji (Luai & Api) but having Richo in the negotiations would have helped.
He’s correct Scott Fulton got us 3 of the top 10 players in our team.

I’m not denying he obviously played some part in the contract negotiations, but everything points to Benji as being the ones the players were attracted to, except for Galvin and TDS.
All other clubs have a recruitment manager and a salary cap manager, we have neither.
I believe Shannon Gallant may now be transitioning into a recruitment manager type role, but we had nobody throughout the 2025 season and that was confirmed by Richo himself.

I don’t care what system we have if it’s working (I think it was). Richo said you don’t need a committee. He gets the players the coach wants cos it’s his job on the line.
That’s one way to look at it, but all the other NRL clubs choose to have a recruitment manager and a salary cap manager.
There must be some reason behind their way of thinking.

Richo has had success at four or five clubs. I think Gallant was being brought along to do recruitment for those average type players but Richo & Benji would do the marquee guys. I guess every club would slightly be different depending on people skills.

No idea, but whoever is paying the wages now has an extra million dollars per season to spend with Richo’s departure.
Then again his 1.5 million payout will probably eat into that.

It was one of Richo’s big selling points that he doesn’t need those additional roles. He did a pod with Graham and talked about how he has a finance and recruiting background in all his jobs.

Yes I know and that’s my point, he chose to take on various roles.
Even someone as egotistical is Gus Gould has people in each specialist role.

I assume that was a strategy for a crisis (3 spoons) and roster management would have changed over time.

can you base any facts around your statement , ive 1/2 a memory ,while fulton was trying to load us up on Shuster ,Benjie was all in for the young guy , if he is 1 , who are the other 2 future top 10 players fulton recruited. Did you,do you still rate fulton as a above garden variety recruitment manager

From a financial point of view it’s a dream, payout central.
You could be right, Fulton tried to claim it.
