HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

We offered them a spot over a week ago. I believe he will come on but don't think he will be interviewed by me.
To be honest- that's fair. I wouldn't want to feel like I'm walking into an ambush myself (as I'm learning lately).

Not saying that would be your intent. Just that he might feel it was.

Regardless- them reaching out & answering questions could solve a lot of issues.

And yet, they are now majority board members.
And how did they get to be the majority board members. Hmmm good question

Do they ‘own’ HBG - yes/no
Were they voted in by the members - yes/no
Did they obtain their position by paying a nominal amount to join a closed group of self interest - yes/no

Can someone please put what’s going on , in plan English , I can’t go back throw all the ins and outs , so if someone can please just put it in plan English, I would be very happy

Everyone hates me lol.
I don’t agree with a lot of your opinions, but nobody can doubt your love for Wests Tigers or dedication to a cause you believe in.
I won’t be attending Saturdays march/rally and that’s not disrespecting what you or any other passionate Wests Tigers fan believes in.
It’s obvious to me you genuinely believe in the cause you are fighting for and I think the vast majority of people on this forum also genuinely believe in the cause they are fighting for, so you all have my support and respect even though I don’t necessarily agree with you.
All I ask is to please further investigate the terms and guidelines that have been instructed by PVL and I assume agreed to be the returning independent board members.
Do we genuinely know if Benji and the players are happy for continued supporter angst or if they would prefer the clubs supporters try to get past their boardroom issues for the good of the rugby league team moving forward ?

They had a meeting with the NRL & PVL said, you can be majority board members?

Im happy to trust the 2 gentlemen that conducted the review and their recommendations for change at the club.

Recommendations that were having a positive effect on this footy club.

I say no to a HBG majority board.
Do you believe the 2 gentlemen who conducted the review know more about running rugby league clubs than what PVL would know ?

You just agreed with everything I wrote.
If Wests hadn’t coupled with Balmain, there were other options. And had they been left without a chair when the music stopped, I’m sure they’d have gone through the courts (given the history of 1983-85).

Souths stood their ground and Balmain blinked.

Accept that and move on ...
I would if everything you wrote was true.
Wests didn’t have the support or the money to go through the courts.
They were shot ducks.

You seem to know them much better than most.
I can only go on the history mate. It was obvious for a long time there were issues in the club so we sought a review.

That review conducted by very qualified people found that there were serious governance issues at the club and made a list of recommendations.

When those recommendations were mostly implemented, the ckub actually started to make measurable improvements across a wide variety of indicators for the first time in over a decade of failure.

The HBG who were found to be an issue in the review, then decided that they would blow that up and return to controlling the club.

Im really sorry but I'm not ok with that. These guys are not owners, they are custodians of our club and they have failed in that role.

I won't stand by and watch them continue to destroy the club.

It is not their club, it is our club.

Thank you.

To my point- we don't know how HBG would have been going forward.

The NRL negotiated a compromise it seems. If they hadn't, at no point had HBG actually said they disagreed with the independent board member structure- just that the board hadn't been transparent with them (not debating the validity of that here). There is a CHANCE that HBG might have hired independents to the board themselves.

We simply do not know for sure.
We don't, but we can make an educated judgement based on previous decisions and the lack of communication from HBG.

HBG allowing a properly independent board would be just as likely as Vladamir Putin announcing a free and open election tomorrow and following through.

Believe me mate, I've had conversations around that today.
