HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

PVL was pleased the HBG acted professionally and were willing to accept the independent directors back. What a load of spin. Of course HBG were happy with the outcome, they now have control, they still have the debenture system and they rolled Richo who they saw as a danger.

What did the members and fans get, absolutely nothing, same old same old inept HBG controlling the clubs fate. All PVL did was to try and create a veneer that the club is now back on track.
💯

I'm not that interesting.

But what IS interesting is that it appears to be perfectly acceptable for a large number of people to join in on a mob mentality of 'pick on the weaker number' if the opinion doesn't exactly match the company line.

Call people what you like, if they don't agree with the majority.

In fact, make an open suggestion to ban those posters for having a contrary opinion.

And nobody calls it out.
100% agree.
Even if you follow WTs as I do but come from the [apparently] wrong side of the track i.e.
the Wests Magpies side of the JV, you're treated with dis-respect if you happen to go against the Balmain led side.

If this is true im pleased with it...this will crush him...his ego.and status

But imo Mick Liubinskas is the real threat...he and.lil.sidekick Leo will one day be in control...theres some staunch magpie there more than denis could ever dream of

Edit...but only wts board..need him out of everything

Exactly. Like Don Trimp has stacked the supreme court with judges to affect judicial power within conservative values, Burgess has achieved the same with his appointments of new debenture holders only a month or two ago with staunch Magpies Allan Fallah, Leo Epifania, and Bob Cairns. Along with Mick Liubinskas and Burgess himself, there are some hardcore Magpies within the HBG fold. They've replaced the Hardgrove brothers, Romero, and Gilbert who were behind an independent Wests Tigers.

Add the known allies of Burgess in Tropiano, Montgomery, and his wife Clare Burgess, and others he must have in the debenture group to be able to wield the power he does, the issues for the NRL club won't go away until the debenture holder system is terminated, or HBG are out of Wests Tigers.

I'm going to ask you this once and once only. What exactly would make you feel like you weren't being disrespected?

Don't bring side issues into it. Stick to the topic.

Is it jersey? Logo? Home ground?

What precisely is it so maybe, just maybe, you give people an opportunity to understand you.

Appears he has only quit the Tigers board ...
And I imagine Burgess can resume the position at a later date. We're being fed plenty of positives to take the heat off the rally, but I'm unsure what has actually happened. Has O'Farrell accepted his reinstatement? Has Benji put pen to paper? Has Richo's termination been finalised with an actual payout? I'm sure there is nothing sinister here, but it seems as if everything is on hold.

Is that how you describe your contributions?
Maybe you can enlighten me on what my agenda is. All I want is Wests Tigers to become a consistently top 8 side. I don't give a shit about all the infighting but would definitely like to see the debenture rubbish gone and the full HBG board to be solely elected by members. I was happy that WT had finally become independent and pissed off like everyone else on here that hbg did what they did.

Hi, Paws our future is South West Sydney, no matter what name or mascot we call it. Locking in any ground for 15 years to get funding needs careful consideration with all parties involved and if HBG, as 90% owners, weren't kept informed, I think it would be disrespectful in my opinion.
Hey Kev

I think we all agree the south west is going to be the heartland for juniors.

I'll entertain for a second that Richo and the directors managed to keep the stadium strategy from the HBG (1000:1 odds).... The outcome they achieved was simply amazing... Close to 100million in funding for the two main stadiums.. Our future is secured for the next 15 years respecting the history of both Wests and Balmain.

The only way this would be an isuse is if someone at HBG had other plans (aka move games from Campbelltown or Leichardt).

🙂😀😆🤣🤣🙃🙃🙃I'm so happy I'm upside-down with joy, laughter and happy tears to see you admit in actual English writing.
"we love the WESTS part of our name"
I'm bowled over, at a loss, discombobulated, flummoxed, nonplussed, confounded, bewildered, amazed, startled, surprised, mind blown, shell shocked, poleaxed, boggled, gobsmacked, taken aback, thunderstruck, stupefied, dumbfounded, shocked, stunned, and even astonished to see you say such a loving conciliatory statement.
Only thing is, coming from you, I think it's DOUBLESPEAK.

Now Cochise, please repeat after me...

" I [not we] I 😍 LOVE the WESTS part of our name.

"I ❤️ LOVE the WESTS part of our name".

If you can do that 10 times, I MAY 🤔 start to believe you.
it might be time to get a hobby...

I've actually offered very few viewpoints. Just questions.

You're right- the 'reports' are outrageous. Almost, some might suggest, inflated beyond any kind of reality.

But that's kind of the point. "Reports". The reaction has been hysterical (not funny) over some 3rd hand 'reports'. And any alternative view is unacceptable.

I am chilled out. Some "Troll-like" version of me (that was a name I missed on my roll call) enjoys trying to get people thinking in a different way. And yeah- some people are probably descended too far into the rainbow coloured mist (I'd say red mist, but want to be more inclusive) to contemplate a different view.

But if that isn't what a forum is about....I'll be damned. If I had known I was signing up for a propaganda machine instead, I'd have lowered my expectations as suggested.
100% agree with your description---"propaganda machine", as they are the words I've been looking for, for over 5 years.

Curious who actually signed off on Benji extension

Most certainly would and should have performance clauses

Would have been happy for him to prove himself over 26’ and 27’ but signing an unproven coach for another 5 years just shows how much of a rabble we are
My guess is its tied to demands luai and bula have made, would not surprise me if the clause removal for luai and the bula extemnsion are announced soon.

Wests Tigers board member quits amid "sexually explicit" Instagram expose

Death, taxes and chaos at the Wests Tigers.
Chairman of the Holman Barnes Group, Dennis Burgess, who serves on the board of the NRL club, has resigned from his position.

It comes just days after it was reported that Burgess followed hundreds of sexually explicit pages on Instagram, though he insists it is not the catalyst behind his decision to step away.
Using the handle "wildmandenny", more than 200 of the 4500 accounts Burgess follows on Instagram display inappropriate content.
“No-one has forced me out, it’s my decision," he told News Corp. “That Instagram page is a relic from my old music life.
“I haven’t touched it since 2017.
“To be clear, I wasn’t ever steering it – someone helping with promotions was driving the account and they likely followed just about everyone to boost the profile.
“Yeah sure, it really should’ve been a generic music handle rather than me, but to me it’s long since been forgotten.
“I wouldn’t say I was hacked, in the technical sense of the word. But I’ve sure been blindsided by it because I was not in control of it.
“At the end of the day, people have jumped on it and weaponised it for their own reasons.”

Burgess' resignation comes just days after the club sacked four board members before being forced to overturn their decision by the NRL.
CEO Shane Richardson was also removed from his position and the club, in the midst of the chaos and instability, looks set to hand Benji Marshall a new contract extending through to 2030.
Burgess has been a director of the Holman Barnes Group since 2001.
It was only in April this year that he was appointed as chairman of the Holman Barnes Group. He has also been serving as a chairman with the Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club.
In his professional life, the former singer has been the chairman of the Australian Songwriters Association since 2003.
With his services to the performing arts and the music industry, he was awarded a medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2024.

The bloke can't even govern his own Instagram account.

WHat other choice did we have?

Our current playing group are all tied to Benji... If there was no certainty around his future going into 2026 then we may as well have kissed the season goodbye...

In a perfect world it's not ideal that we signed him so long... But at the same time, there are indicators we are on the up with him in charge..

Imagine if Brad Arthur came in the impact that would of had on our squad? We would all give up.. I doubt many of us could deal with another rebuild

He was signed through 2027 but.

If it locks in Luai / Bula I don’t hate it, but Benji pretty much just told us Luai’s clauses won’t go away.
