This is what irks all the magpie supporters, including HBG that we are called the Tigers. Whilst that continues the connection with Balmain will remain. No one refers to our team as Wests. Most clubs only refer to their logo, ie the roosters, the dolphins, the broncos etc.

It’s apart of our name. And it’s a good example of why they believe they have no identity in the JV if they are corrected anytime they refer to us as such. If you have an issue with someone calling us by one of our names, who’s the dinosaur?

I don't hope the only option left is waiting till these rusted-on blowhards die off.
I'd love to see these HBG debenture guys, not just get some accountability, but start to talk in terms of Wests Tigers and not Magpies or Balmain. They aren't leading as leaders should.
Enshrine the magpies in the constitution and then step aside. If that means that there will be a commitment to the NSW cup team (even over Balmain) and a black and white jersey, then so be it. No one would argue with that.
It can't continue to be a crutch to maintain squatter's rights in those debenture positions and ruin the club.
Jedi let's be honest-nobody here is sitting on the fence.
Some want a JV in name only, where one side gets full branding [and that's what you want] and the other gets wiped out.
But that's not what a JV ever was.
The structure was built on 2 clubs retaining identity and recognition. Removing the MAGPIES name from all teams isn't unity, it's erasure.
If one half gets everything and the other gets nothing [all teams playing as WTs] that's not a partnership-that's a takeover dressed up as simplicity.
And suggesting a JV should carry one side's identity is like saying a duet should only have one singer. And that exposes bias.
A strong club honours it's full heritage.
A club that erases half its history loses its soul.
Recognising the MAGPIES isn't optional-it's essential to the integrity of the JV.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but 10 posters who gave a 👍to your post are apparently happy to see the MAGPIES wiped out.
I agree with you hammer. Ideally all grades should have one team WEST TIGERS. Whilst we play Magpies and Balmain in the some of the lower grades, this disparity will continue.
I think the hate towards our club owners and officials damages Wests Tigers brand as a whole, and more evidence-based opinions are needed within the forum. Members keep quoting their hate towards Western Suburbs supporters and officials they deem connected. I have a military background and cannot see any value in bitching and moaning about leaders. You have to stay together if you want to win the battle.

Actually I think the opposite, I’ve heard lots of people calling us both just Wests and/or the Tigers at different times. And most of the media (God bless them) are usually at pains to call us Wests Tigers, which I think sounds stupid, but hey, that’s our name.
In all honesty though, I’d rather we’d just be known as the Tigers. It’s easier, sounds better and matches the way every other team in the comp is referred to. The St George Illawarra Dragons are usually just known as the Dragons and no one has a hissy fit about it, least of all the people in charge of the club! So being called the Tigers is fine by me and I am a former staunch Wests Magpies supporter since I could walk, but it’s been 25 years!

It is nothing to do with wanting to "wipe out" the Magpies, that simply isn't true.
It makes absolutely no sense to have Flegg as WT, NSW Cup as Wests Magpies and first grade as Wests Tigers.
It makes absolute sense to have Flegg, NSW Cup and first grade all aligned as Wests Tigers.
That was decided 25 years ago!!! It’s the Wests Tigers! It gets referred to interchangeably. Obviously the Tiger is a strong logo and hence gets referenced. It’s YOUR clubs Tiger!!

BZN, I am not bothered if our NSW Cup team runs around in black and white. I don't believe It is worth the upset that would result from changing the team to WTs. Note I always use WTs, not Tigers, as their is a difference. The logo on the WTs' jersey is also different to that of Balmain.
As a result of what has happened, I hope PVL has given thought as to whether the existing arrangement is the best entity to carry forward the NRL's strategic vision for the South-West growth area - Narrellan, Camden, Oran Park and the South West Airport metropolis. It is a jewel and has the potential to increase junior participation, both girls and boys, in RL and eventually the NRL. That is why imo it is so important to have independents on the board with successful business careers behind them. They have a lot to offer the NRL and WTs. With its $12m investment pa in WTs, I am sure this was one of PVL's motivations. I hope we get a great outcome from this drama.
