Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Personally I disagree. Luai got so frustrated at times with Doueihi at 7. Doueihi was too sideways and too overbearing. While he looked better with AD than he did with Galvin, I'd have to say he looked easily his best partnering Latu. With Latu he got the ball when he wanted and how he wanted. Latu's ability to play straight and deep into the line is unmatched at the club. In fact, there aren't many halves in the comp who can play to the line like Latu. Katoa is one. And no, im not saying he is as good as Katoa. But he could get close IMO
Whether it’s psychological for Jarome but I think he feels he needs to help Latu - this negates his natural running and playmaking game.
I think Douiehi allows Jarome to play wider and run more than just playing the role of ball distributer, the extra space AD creates enables Jarome to be at his most dangerous - linking to his outside men and
use his short kicking game or step of his left foot.

Bula would make a great 5/8.....

I'd keep Bula at fullback unless some up and commer shows they are ready to play at an NRL level.

If the young bloke Attard deserve a start I'd put him in as 5/8 with Romey at 7.

My question, if Romey does play 7 for the majority of his games in 2026 who will be then who is best to partner him in the halves?

If Bula is selected at 6 and Romey at 7 where do we put Douehi? We can't put him at centre, with the players we have better options than Adam in the 3 and 4. I like the idea of having Douehi somewhere in the 17 for his goal kicking an attacking ability. I still have some reservations about his defence, BUT boy did he lift his defence for 2025?

In season 2026 in some positions at least, Wests Tigers are going to have selection headaches..........but for good reason and a good headache to have.

So in summary, I'd shift Bula to 5/8 if our new young fullback is killing it.....now I just have a Douehi headache.😂🤣
I personally don’t see Bula as a 6 at the moment, what skills of Bula’s in particular do you like for this role?

I see his strengths at the moment as his safety under kicks at the back and dangerous open field running, and chiming in on both sides, which all are suited at this stage at fullback. Also not sure about his defence in the front line.

Im not about to say your wrong by any means. However i see it differently. I feel like Jerome's running game opens up more with Latu and is hindered by Doueihi. Latu, for me, creates more space for Laui while Doueihi cramps him somewhat.

You know more on here then most ...Latu does play deep but do you think him playing 40 minutes abit like Jim Dymock did at Canterbury until 27 would be better for him ?

Woudnt mind Elliot. Would be an actual 13 and a different dynamic and shape in the forwards. Would be cheap, has a good work ethic and gives us a bit more line speed in D.

I heard that the tigers might be in for Elliot , from the knights , he had a bad injury this year , but the bloke is a good player , high work rate and a ball player
Yes heard same thing as there is an interview with him and he said he is a free agent , training himself , and has some contact with 2 clubs one seems like tigers but he was very non committed as he said agent was doing it and it was early , no real offer in place , but he would be a good pick up , real 13 , good work ethic , has a good go every time I see him play and that was in loosing knights team , he would add to our team even off bench , competition for spots is good and so is a top 6 reserve grade side

Add to that he’s just had a kid. A lot of noise is drowned out when you’re besotted with little ones. I’ve noticed this across the years with country footy with the vast majority having above average years. Happened to myself as well

That's one thought, for me Bula has all the attributes of a right centre that can play fullback and should be paid accordingly.
Now, whether the new kid on the block is for real or the NRL gods bless us with Pappy or another "better fullback" falls from a tree, I am comfortable to have Bula at the back on top centre money and not Pais on potential top fullback money. This must be the year that Bula steps up.

And I don’t think luai plays as well at 1/2 back as he does at 5/8 , he likes the extra space at 5/8 , he is a runner more than a playmaker in the real sense
