HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

We are a poorly performing club on the field.

Off the field? Boardroom members aside- are we doing much worse than 80% of the clubs?

Be fair when talking about the coaches too- the one who left did so to coach his son. 3 ex-premiership coaches, Cleary, Madge & Sheens.

I don't remember watching the board members missing tackles or kicking out on the full.

Our years without finals series appearances have more to do with coaches hoping Luke Brooks can be Nathan Cleary than whoever sits at the end of the board room table.

Everyone says we turned things around last season because of independent board members.

Couldn't it have just as easily been Benji getting a better mix of players on the field? Why is Benji's success (of sorts) credited to the off-the-field team instead of the guys on the field?
We still have some supporters including some on this forum that want to believe our recruitment for last season was down to Richo and the Independent Board Members, nobody else even though the high profile recruits themselves have all publically stated it was Benji that convinced them tn sign with is, nobody else.
While the jury is still out on Benji’s coaching ability, there can be no denying his ability to attract players.

I don’t even know why this topic is being continually discussed, our current CEO and Chairman have recently fronted up to state there are no current concerns and it’s all systems go in regards to the upcoming season which is now only a couple of weeks away.
Are you hoping for another problem ?
I haven't seen anyone from HBG front up post the sacking of 4 x independent directors, which they reversed, with no explanation.

Can you point me in the direction of these interviews/statements?

Do they have to tell you why it happened, no other NRL club puts out a public statement to their fans every time board members change.
Again Shaun and Barry fronted up to assure our fans that everything is ok at this present time.

Everybody has heard it all before and seen the opposite.
Very hard to trust anything that comes out of the HBG board.

I doubt they will change nine radio e.g. 2gb 3aw 2pr much - they will still keep same presenters and are still using nine newsroom and journalists.
Don't believe Laundy would interfere too much if he bought tigers.
would be great if it happend

Laundy Hotels is contracted as the major front-of-jersey sponsor for the dogs until the end of 2027. Will be interesting to see if they extend for a further 5 years (which is an option) or if they decide against it clearing the way to buy the mighty Wests Tigers...

How many people have credited our recruitment to independent board members? Please reference me to these posts.

Do they have to tell you why it happened,
they came out rather cocky when they sacked the independents with a video message from their ceo..
you'd think when they have to back track and reinstate them, that an explanation may be warranted.
"Do they have to tell you".. back to the old "we own you, we will do what we want" bs..

no other NRL club puts out a public statement to their fans every time board members change.
Hbg are not an nrl club. They hold the licence. They made a statement when they punted the board members, so why not make a statement when reinstating them?

Shaun is interim CEO and Barry was sacked a month ago. They are nobodies in the scheme of things. They could both be gone in 12-36 months time..

We want to hear from HBG... the ones who created this mess

I dont mind the crap you spread here. It just reinforces in my head that HBG should be nowhere near the tigers and I hope like hell something happens and the licence is given to someone else..

Why? Have you got the broom ready?

Let’s not forget Charlie Viola who refused to return and cop more of the same nonsense. We really can’t hold that against him.

That's rubbish Chad. Couldnt recruit and couldn't retain.
There is a reason why players and coaches find success at other clubs that they don't find here - there is no denying it - that it's a fact.
Brooks mighten have ended up a superstar but he played finals footy the first year he left the club.
Players and managers know it.
We get a CEO who gives us a bit of credibility and in one year a percentage of our fans back a consistently failed admin in their efforts to suggest that his tenure was shortened due to some misdemeanor on his part.
Pathetic

The nrl must hold the power or we wouldnt have seen the backflip. No power = no backflip.. and there is a reason ppl are squirming for unity right now... and its not because they give two caps about unity.
It wouldn't be healthy to hold onto that dream mate.
