Jahream Bula #269

Are they actually able to register him? If tigers have an option for 2027, then I dont see how dogs could register a contract
Melbourne did it with Lomax. I read that the NRL has this thing called the Gateway where clubs can park a contract until everything is above board and the contract can then be registered. I had never heard of it before the Lomax rubbish. I really don't know why the NRL would allow such a stupid thing.

He is right about TPa's... Laundy has many "arms length" contacts...rort
As much as believe there is a lot of dodgy TPAs I don't believe there is enough money being thrown around in TPAs to give any club other than Melbourne and Brisbane a significant edge in signing players.
Often it is written on here that multiple players at a club are each getting a couple hundred thousand in TPAs (even is suggested about some of our players) but when NRL released TPA figures most clubs didn't have more the about 250k total of TPAs across their whole squad.
If there is blatant rorting happening it would be in non TPA methods. E.g. brown paper bags or jobs for partners.

NRL figures are as rubbery as a set of Chinese tyres….

I would think the lomax situation is different because he is not currently under any NRL contract, where as bula is contracted until the end of 2026 and the tigers can force the option for 2027.

So when would the dogs contract be for, 2027 or 2028? Is there a time limit on when the tigers must enforce their option by?

So no one really knows what bula is going to do , the story was he was going to stay and a deal had been agreed, then he was going to, this is going on and on , the club really needs to know before the season starts
Having a wild guess..I think it will be the second week of March (before R2 at L.O) that the WTs announce they have extended Bula’s contract by 3yrs…. Hope it’s earlier though.

I don’t think it will be that late. I’m just waiting for the Bird announcement and I’m guessing it’ll be right after that. Fingers crossed for next week 🤞🏻

Yes, I'm with you there champion @Ecto-1.
I think the interim CEO said he was hoping for the announcement before the season, so we're all just waiting.

Isn't Lomax bound by his contract with the eels?

That being a 'bizarro' contract, in that he can't play nrl for another club unless approved by Parra until end of '28 (whenever the one he signed expires).

Contract to not play... What a crazy world the nrl is... 🤣

He doesn’t fit the DNA of players with PNG blood who run the ball fearlessly, so I can’t see them making him one of their marquee players.
I’m sure our fans wear rose coloured glasses.
I agree to an extent but PNG will need more than brute power to compete at NRL level. It took the Warriors years to work out they need a good mix of styles to have success.
