Jahream Bula #269

Out of curiosity what other players does Moses manage at WT? If this plays out badly with Bula and WT perception is that it's Moses doing his usual anti WT we should look seriously at the other players he manages and future with WT.

I would say the delay with the Bulldogs announcing it is that they are working with Moses on the TPA.
The mutts don’t need to wait for TPAs to get done to register his contract because the TPAs are separate & not connected to the club/player contract. Said a thousand times if he has signed with dogs it would’ve been registered & then leaked because he then would have to give Tigers 10 days to counter that deal.

He doesn’t fit the DNA of players with PNG blood who run the ball fearlessly, so I can’t see them making him one of their marquee players.
I’m sure our fans wear rose coloured glasses

Didn’t the Bulldogs make an offer for Bula ? He is good enough for them but not PNG?

Make it make sense

Are they actually able to register him? If tigers have an option for 2027, then I dont see how dogs could register a contract

It was said on the Wests Tigers Faithful podcast that they’ve heard Bullas’s contract with be 3 years with the Tigers on 950 a year. The delay in announcing it is they’re waiting for Bird to leave so they can use some of his money to top up this year.

So if Bird doesn’t end up leaving does the Bula deal fall over ?

How much extra are they paying this season ? And then $950 x 3 years ? 🤔

Legally Moses can't have anything to do with the TPA and no TPA can legally be aligned with a contract. If TPA and contracts are linked the clubs are in breach of the salary cap rules.

I am not stupid enough to think that it doesn't go on behind closed doors; however, you would be a bit stupid to rely on TPAs gettign a contract over the line when it is your livelihood.

Most of the "bonuses" that come with selecting one club over another in present times are related to other intangibles; like financial advice, investment opportunities, etc.

TPAs are contracts directly between players and the sponsors - check out the Deep Dive on TPAs for the detail.

Ture but he can organise meet and greets and hand out phone numbers

But can not take part in the TPA negotiations but would know all the numbers and details for best representation for his clients

TPA's very funny things

don’t have anymore details on Bula but from all reports Bird is already gone just hasn’t been announced yet. With the Tigers chipping in a bit on his contract for this year.

The Bulldogs will not pay him close to the million dollar mark and that could be the problem as to why he’s undecided on whether or not to accept the bigger offer from us.
It sounds like we want to wait and see what he produces in the first 10 rounds this season before deciding if we will increase our offer or length of offer and that is more than fair in my opinion.

I never mentioned PNG would pay him a million either …just that it was tax free…which I’m sure you can work out makes a considerable difference…

$750k tax free is about $1.25m paid in Australia

Good to see that Bula is having a break out year that deserves a top up and then 950k for the next 3.

Oh wait, we haven't played yet.

We should give him $750k and the phone number for Kerry Packers old tax accountant.

That should work for all concerned, being a new deal, even Isaac gets a cut. 🤣

My reply was basically to highlight the TPAs wouldn’t hold up the registration of contract. Someone else on here said they know a dogs insider saying it’s done. Now some insider is blabbing that the deal is done & if in fact it is you don’t think Tigers would know? We all would know.

That's a good outcome for WTs. In this market where players of Bula's quality are in high demand, making the deal is outstanding.

He won’t go there but he’d definitely be a marquee player for them lol
They'd name the main street of the compound in his honour - Bula Boulevard
Green Day would update and re-release their popular ditty ...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard for our Jahream
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone ...

Push forward a decade or so and there'd be a movie about him and the inaugural Hunters, the bloke could even end up as the first Fijian Prime Minister of PNG ...

But yeah, he'll probably just hang around Concord or Belmore 🤷‍♂️

In a few years the PNG juniors, once exposed to a consistently high level of coaching/training, will be a force. It is another large talent pool for the NRL.
