Jahream Bula #269

When's Bula signed to? Can't we wait on signing him, he can answer a few important questions this year and if he does, then there's no problem giving him the big bucks.

And there might be other options that appear, so no rush. If he signs somewhere else then 'all the best'

Young Isdale outstanding in Matt’s today. Obviously a long way to go but was papenhausen flashbacks for me .

Brookes and Edward’s look promising. Would like to keep bula but it’s a risk if he wants too much of the cap for too long a contract term. Was horrified at the thought of losing him initially, but I think we will have another fullback roll off the production line if he doesn’t want to buy in and be part of our long term tribe then so be it .

I think it's interesting that the club hasn't announced anything about Bird. I think it will tie in to Bula staying

Been absolutely nothing in the papers about Bula's negotiations. Normally when a tigers player actually wants out, there's a constant stream of articles about where he might end up.

I still think he stays. Can't be too far off getting a deal done now

Very unlike an Isaac Moses client for no “leaks” to the media

I think that's the huge question here...

How replaceable is Bula?

Daine Laurie, I liked him. Clearly Bula was a massive upgrade and he needed to go. We could pick a fullback like Daine up fairly easily (I suspect he is a better 5/8).

Bula does seem better then the average bear.. Not the average Fullback, but as far as NRL players he has a bit of X-Factor too him. Can cross the line. Can't read that well defensively... He is rather replaceable.

Some positions are super hard to replace. Halfback for instance, while 5/8 is far easier to fill in. I reckon top quality centers are hard to find as well.

Don't really want to loose Bula, but he isn't KEY to our side.

if and its a big IF,think St G will put up big $s and a ride in a chopper
There is no rush, Bula /moses have all the time in the world to work it out
its only the goldfish running out of oxygen in confined spaces that want a done deal ,yesterday
WA n PNG would be stupid if they didn't ask, plenty to play out yet

Personally I think it’s far too early in the season to either write him off - he’s played 40 minutes. I think he’s a great talent with some clear flaws. His defence isn’t good enough at times. But still, he has a stack of talent. I’d love for him to stay but I don’t want to break the bank doing it.

Basically how I feel, though it is clear to see the difference Jahream brings to our side, and especially the lack of it when he is out. Unless a new deal is done or Benji definitely wants to keep him long term, just give him the already agreed $900k option and worry about the rest later for mine.

disagree , Bula has been pampered since he got here Was given plenty of time to just stand on the try line ( i tell no lie } to learn the game ,blah blah . Edumicated on finding a voice ,to the extent that the media started barking wondering wtf is going on
The lad needs to show some respect .Imho he is still timid

23 tries in 57 games and yet to enter his prime as a just turned 24 year old, keep him around for 200 plus games and he’s probably our all time leading try scorer.

Can’t keep doing the hard yards with young talent then letting them leave.
has Bula really scored that - who you tlking about Willis

Bula has the makings of a great player. Regardless of that- he is clearly one of the better attacking options at the club & his defence is often overlooked.

That said, if he goes, he goes. I'd hate to lose him. But in the same breath, football clubs are a production line. So long as there are a couple of options coming through, you can't over-commit to players without damaging the balance of the Salary Cap.

Attard & Brookes looked quite interesting in the trials. Turuva can fill in. Are they Bula level? Not yet.

Maybe never.

But if the money saved & the quality drop-off equates to strengthening the overall side? Then you let him go.

As you are free to do, though you then go on to point out both his and the club's deficiencies in bringing him along at WT. I don’t see him as a retain at all costs player, but he has not reached his ceiling and has developed in a threepeat spoon and unstable board environment.

Is there someone better that is attainable that you can suggest, or who is currently in house at the club to fill his role next year?
