If May is out and To'a is available, straight swap. Otherwise stick with Laulilii and put Turuva in centre with Skelton on the right. Once May is available I'd like to see Makasini on the wing again, I feel like he could convert the half chances that Laulilii couldn't. Skelton earned a spot. That being said:

1. Bula
2. Turuva
3. To'a

Next week will be interesting because NSW Cup is on at the same ground at 4:10pm so potentially a couple of NRL bench selections could play the first 40 mins of Cup until 5pm and then back up for 6:35pm NRL game. Maybe the risk is too great?!?! Or perhaps just the reserve player plays NSW Cup?!

Otherwise we could see those missed a game this week, Madden, Hope & Geyer, replaced in the squad by Mason, Murray & Afoa. Will be a very interesting team list Tuesday and final squad Friday!

No Bunty?
Is he eligible to play NRL?

On paper I get this comment.

It was impressive the way LL dusted himself off after each error yesterday and came back and did something great to atone. The kid is definitely made of the right stuff.

Perhaps my initial comment was a little harsh so I amended it…

He might have high moral character …but we are trying to win football games by picking the best players … I feel Skelton played better with fewer errors ..
…the Cowboys were pretty ordinary yesterday … Souths will target Luke a lot more I feel…

Can only assume Skelton had an interrupted pre-season while LL earned the coaches admiration. I though a few of LL’s errors were a bit unlucky and he showed genuine care factor in his reactions.

With the May injury I assume they both start rd 3.

Big job for Skelton and Turuva up against Trell next week.

Perhaps Skelton did , but if so it didn’t seem to impact him yesterday …

Someone jokingly made a comparison that Luke’s hands reminded them of Junior Tupou … I mean that guy has some of the worst dropsies I’ve seen ..but Luke was as bad yesterday … maybe it’s a one off …he is only 20 I guess…

I’m hoping Toa or May are back …maybe give Luke a bit more opportunity to work on his game in the Cup..but if both are out then I agree that Luke will likely play,,,,

I like this lineup, keep it as same as possible. Only a little thing but I want Skelton defending at centre for his physicality against Latrell and Turuva attacking at centre for his catch pass.

In assessing his errors fairly, one was off a broken field play (last tackle I think) where Luai should of passed inside to Bula for a likely try but found LL wide and left him a lot of work to do 5m out. Good place to turn the ball over.

Scrum play tackle 0. Clunky play where the pass was too far out in front. Should have caught it but poor execution all round. Wasn’t a bad place to turn the ball over.

Yardage error. Dropped it in the tackle. Needs more care there for sure. I think the team defended it.

Can’t remember the fourth one.

Each time he bounced back with a big tackle or try shortly after.

On paper, it doesn’t read well but I’m keeping him in the side. Things happen around him and the more experience he gets the better he’ll get. He plays with an energy that the Tupou’s and Kepaoas of previous years never did. Shame he is leaving us in my opinion.

Will be a good player for us as cover for backline injuries in 26’

So how long do these players who don’t get a run have to sit on the bench, there not playing NSW cup either , think this is a VERY stupid idea

Thats been my concern all along with this change. Selecting 6 but only using 4 on the interchange can actually hurt if you're selected on the interchange vs playing in the State Cup

Nailed it.

Is Herbert a good defensive centre?

Laulilii dropped a lot of ball. Would prefer Skelton on the wing to be honest. Makasini at left centre then someone to fill the gap on the right.

Needless to say we need a quality centre.

Is Branson Xerri good?
Unfortunately I think Graham and Latrel are about to give us a lesson and expose the young fellas, as talented as they are. Laulilii had some nice touches but I think against Souths he will get a lot of traffic and leak point.
