OFFICIAL SG Ball Cup

Wests had yet another absolute stinker in ball. When Lele is your star performer you know your whole team had a shocker. A decent run here or there but for the most part they looked like a side who couldn't care less.
I really don't get Godinet, maybe he wants a move. He maybe touched the ball 3-4 times. It's not good enough for a player of his stature in a comp like this. Seems like every week he's barely touching the ball half a dozen times. For his size he needs to be able to dominate against kids, seeing him struggle to make an impact raises big red flags.

I could basically copy paste what I've written about this team previously though. The same issues, week after week. Just not enough skill or talent to be able to complete.

Sad.

if the team lacks skill etc , nobody likes loosing. Do they look for help from a certain player or 2

Question for you mate I read somewhere that Phoniex Godinet can play centre is that the case ?

Interesting that Balmain are higher on the ladder then the Magpies in both SG Ball and Harold Matt's. The famed junior nursery in the South West is 12th in one and 16th in the other.
And unfortunately for the Wests Tigers perspective despite the Magpies being so low on the table they easily accounted for Balmain a few weeks ago.

Wests have a weak spine in both grades. Isdale is promising in Matt's but that's about it. None of their other spine players look likely to make it to flegg level at this stage.
There's a decent player here or there but there's no strategy, no coordination. Just relying on one out individual brilliance.
They fired up against Balmain but have simmered since

I would doubt it, but it's possible. He doesn't have amazing acceleration. At the moment he's just not getting involved whatsoever. He doesn't go looking for the ball and it's very happy to stand in the background.

For some one with his work ethic it's odd. Yes his halves are giving him little quality ball to work with but the top players, especially at youth level, go get the ball on their hands so they can make a difference. His defence is solid and he's still young, he just needs a rocket - maybe been pampered a bit or believing his own hype.

He is a kid but taking a look at his online presence, it does seem like "I've made it" without actually making it.... yet.

Hes attempting to make himself a brand but outside of die hard Tigers fans, he is an unknown.

I've never seen it before - He carries himself like a 10yr vetran.
He's done nothing?
Seeing a bit of him here and there, I'm not super sold he will.

I'll give Godinet the benefit of the doubt atm with the precedent that Makasini wasn't that impressive in SG Ball last season. Very similar seasons in that Godinet is staying in his lane not looking to get involved as much as someone of his ability, same as Mak last year. Just following structure.

Both Godinet & Mak are/were also victims of non-dominant halves most games in Ball. But every now and again Godinet produces a quality run or tackle. I actually thought he was one of the Magpies best last weekend with Lele & Paea.

Benji does rate Godinet highly so has obviously impressed in NRL opposed sessions in the pre-season.

It's interesting that the Magpies Ball team has a fair chunk of the Matts GF team from 2 seasons ago so you would think they should be contending.

However tThe major outs are Masi Makasini, Maddax Fui & Ashton Large (Onitoni missed most of that season from memory). Imo if the Ball team had those 3 this season, they would be in the top 6.

Terowie Golding-Lyons can play. other than that it's slim pickings unless you count Havea who's been getting reps at hooker for SG Ball.
