Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

The Wests Tigers are set to move swiftly in a bid to lock in one of their 2025 debutants.

The club is closing in on a contract extension for lock forward Charlie Murray, with a deal between the club and his management understood to be close to finalisation. Murray's rise to the NRL has been anything but conventional, with the forward earning his opportunity last season after years of grinding through rugby league's development systems.

The 24-year-old spent time in the systems of the Gold Coast Titans and Melbourne Storm before breaking through with the Tigers in 2025, initially arriving on a train-and-trial deal.

After making his debut in Round 14, Murray went on to feature multiple times and quickly established himself as a reliable option in the club's forward rotation.

He has carried that momentum into 2026, impressing throughout the pre-season and strengthening his case for a bigger role.

Murray's agent Kif Chowdhury told ESPN the forward's journey highlights the value of persistence.

"Charlie's career is a great example of what can happen when someone refuses to give up on their dream," Chowdhury said.

With discussions now progressing towards completion, the Tigers look set to reward one of their most hard-earned success stories.
Just wondering

Now that Richo has left, is it still corruption that he signed Murray?

I remember some here were questioning his integrity yet Murray seems to be in favour and even the people calling him corrupt are saying he should stay on.

Could someone answer this for me? @Vicious? Someone?

I don't recall anybody calling Charlie Murray corrupt. If you meant Richo then I note that it was due to his son's player agency as a potential conflict of interest. Interestingly, in the article, it mentions his manager's name as Kif Chowdhury not Richo's Son. Maybe he changed it maybe Kif works for Richo's son. Honestly, who cares? Corruption is when a Govt gives over $15bn to the CFMEU and illegal Bikie gangs. Get over Richo mate.

Charlie Murray is a good improving player, I’m hoping he re-signs with us for a few more years.
I also like Tristan Hope who Richo played a big part in signing.
So no doubt he (Richo) done some good things for us in the recruitment space.
In saying that it’s not rocket science to identify a couple of well performing, battle hardened Qld Cup players to sign on NSW Cup contracts to try and improve what was at that time our very poorly performing NSW Cup team.

Tracey was leading Dally Ms before he cld injured last year..and last nite we saw exactly why
He's totally involved in every play..is there when it counts..including defence
Is smart..and he talks
Sure he has probably hit his ceiling which is pretty good btw and about half the price of bulas ceiling which with his entitled attitude propped up by moses he may never get close to
And take that poisoning manager with him to the Dogs..after all,he's done such a great job with the Eagles..and others
Bula will be half a mill more than Tracey which we cld spend elsewhere
Can't understand the hate for Tracey, outplays Bula in every aspect of the game.

Never mind the talk about Bula has more upside, blah, blah, blah, etc. and for those that say we are a better side with Bula in it, I have to agree, but currently we would be an even better side with Tracey in it and most likely have a bit of loose change to spare.

Say whatever you like, but you know deep down that I am right. 😛

Currently I think we would be a clearly better team with Connor Tracey playing fullback for us.
Hopefully Jahream comes out and has a standout game tonight and changes that way of thinking.

Tracey is a solid fullback and would do well right now but I think there are signs good signs with Bula and we can give Bula at least a few months, he has the potential too be a much better player the Tracey.

Let me make it easy
People called Richo corrupt because he had an affiliation with Easts Tigers and had a share in the agency that signed Faatape and Murray. Yet now the same people are cheering about Murray. Just testing some logic that's all. If you don't want to participate, you can jog on.

Your contribution added nothing.

you called him corrupt...could it be he just tried to do the right thing for Wests Tigers?

Right now that’s exactly what we are doing, giving Jahream every opportunity to live up to his expected price tag.
